How we keep our self-worth, self-value low in life... new insights

I have been posting my articles on Medium, an online platform, for the past two years. This morning I was tallying up what articles were well read, well thought of... and was pondering if I should write articles that people like, or if I should continue writing articles that people need.

I can look at the question through many different "filters"... integrity, i.e. being true to myself. Being true to my principle: "Never doing anything for money that I wouldn"t want to do for free." or the newest distinction for me: project mode vs process mode.

Learning

Learning new things is both exciting, and humbling. More humbling, in a way, than exciting. I never really want to learn anything new, not about myself, not about life, not about people, not about anything. I already know enough, says a part of me... and I break out in hives (figuratively) at the option of learning something new.

And then, when I do learn something new, I have to process it, and rebuild my self-view, maybe even my world view. It could be fun, but it really not pleasant.

If you consider that this is what I ask from other people, for a living, I could be viewed pretty "inauthentic"... looked in one way. I don"t think I am, I feel the pain it cost people to learn something new, and have compassion: see where they are at and am willing to help them through.

Yesterday"s article on the two hemispheres of the brain

Yesterday"s article was the result of a huge learning, and I didn"t hear any echo until this morning. Even this morning it wasn"t any talking about what I wrote: instead I got an example of how it is true, that when you move from the high mind-share, high about-me score, you have creativity and joy available to you.

What I didn"t see, and one of my students taught me, is that the project mode, when you are hellbent on getting the result, and put up with the process that you"d rather not have to go through, you are in the mind: the only place the future exists, you are in about-me mode, and you are in left-brain mode, even if you are doing "art". Of some supposedly joyful thing, like a game, or sex, or a conversation.
When you shift into process mode, you are in the present moment, and that is definitely not mind. Mind doesn"t even know about the present moment.

This traditionally project mode student of mine did this shift, and for the first time he experienced joy and creativity (his one art is songwriting, he has others) and called his state: I am better than ever. The joy was tangible in his voice.

And that joy, that "being hooked up" to the divine source of joy, creativity, transcendence is available all the time, not like the project mode that has a time and a place and a duration... what most people seem to crave.

------------------

The strait jacket of identity... and the string that move the puppet

This same student brought up an issue that has caused another unwanted learning for me (what I am referring to in the title of this article).

He was pondering and examining why he has the urge to teach his mother what he knows to teach... even though it always leaves him with a sense of emptiness and futility.

I recognized myself in that... I have been getting better at this, but only with a lot of self-discipline, using my short supply of will... to stop myself.

Maybe that is why, on days when I see people who I could teach, who don"t want to learn, never asked for it, don"t want it, don"t appreciate it, I get very tired, drained, and have suddenly no joy.

What"s going on in the invisible?

Most everyone had an incident in their lives where what they said or did was not appreciated, not heard, not valued, and now they are trying to fix it.

The problem is: you cannot fix anything that is not wrong.

If a screw falls out: you can put it back. If a vase breaks, you can glue it together, but if your diagnosis of what was "wrong", amiss, is mistaken, all your efforts at fixing it won"t fix it: because it wasn"t broken to begin with.

We spend most of our lives trying to fix what never happened, what wasn"t real to begin with.

  • My decision was, about my failure to be heard, is that I was worthless, a throwaway, not valuable.

  • My student"s decision was, in his incident, that he can"t... Can"t possibly do what life wants him to do... no matter what he does.

  • And his Playground partner"s, in relationships, said: "I can"t win... not even if I yell"

And each person, who"s ever  experienced a "failure to be enough" in an incident, invented a fix... and that"s become part of the identity they are today.

  • I am hellbent on providing unique value, proving that I am smart

  • My student became well spoken

  • His Playground partner (I don"t want to use names for privacy) became alternately bombastic and meek and self-sacrificing in the face of people opposing him or wanting something from him.

All inauthentic ways of being... perpetuating the original failure to be...

  • ...in my case to be seen by my mother as a person,

  • in my student"s case: being able to do what he was asked to do (mediate between his parents at a young age) and

  • in the case of his Playground partner: be able to be heard as capable and valid.

I have written a lot about being a puppet on a string: this is one example you are a puppet on a string... perpetually being pulled in to recreate an early misery... feeling less than... without having much power over it.

It is an invisible dynamic, and until it is revealed, fully seen for what it is, it will continue doing its dance, uninterrupted, at the expense of your joy, power, and self-expression.

It occurs to me that I could measure to what degree you have self-value...

  • My student: 10%

  • His partner: 10%

  • Me: 30%

This is not the same measure as overvaluing one"s worth as in delusion (also measured in the Starting Point Measurements.) It is what you bring into every conversation... what you hope is higher, but it is you who does whatever you need to do to keep it at the level you decided when you were young and someone invalidated you.

I lived most of my life with a low self-worth, a low self-value of 3% and have managed to overcome that impediment, somewhat, recently. I"d like to up it... but have no idea what I would need to do... so it"s time to have a heart to hearth with Source about that.

It is Tuesday and I get my weekly horoscope by Rob Brezsny in my inbox on Tuesdays.

Today, it seems, for the first time, his non-horoscope type content was so in sync with what is going on in my courses and for my students, that I had a feeling that I may be on the right track, doing the right thing, and the Universe agrees with me. Here are a few quotes from what he says in the email, and my comments:

THE MORE ACCIDENTAL, THE MORE TRUE

"The more accidental, the more true," wrote Boris Pasternak. Scholar Mikhail Epstein expanded this observation: "The more accidental the phenomenon, the more divine its nature, for the divine is what has not been envisioned, what cannot be deduced from general rules, nor irreducible to them."

If we pursue this line of thought to its logical conclusion, we may decide that the most useful sources of illumination are not always holy books, revered dogma, and great truths that everyone has heard. They might also be serendipitous anomalies that erupt into the daily routine and break the trance of ordinary awareness.

"The tiny spark," Epstein writes, "is the precise measure of the holiness of the world."

(Source: Mikhail Epstein, "Judaic Spiritual Traditions in the Poetry of Pasternak and Mandel"shtam." Translated from Russian by Ruth Rischin.)

The nature of evil

To the degree that we stop projecting evil onto others and face it and deal with it in ourselves, we are far more likely to act with moral equanimity (mental calmness, composure, and evenness of temper, especially in a difficult situation.) toward everyone else.

Our effort to wrangle (argue) compassionately with the shadow within us is an effective ground-level way to purify and strengthen our efforts to help and redeem the outer world

Where to look for evil?

"If only it were all so simple! If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?"

Learning how to teach the unteachable...

There is a vast difference between smart and intelligent... ((

Difference between Intelligent and Smart

Key Difference: Intelligence is the quality of a being to be well informed and be smart in all the activities. On the other hand, a smart person is one who is clever and quick in thought and action.

Intelligent and Smart are considered synonyms. Most of the times, the terms are used interchangeably. However, there is a difference between the meaning and the use of these words.Intelligence is something that you learn. Intelligence is what one can improve by studies, reasoning, and understanding. It can only be developed from childhood. No one is born intelligent, one needs to work on it and improve his skills.

According to Dictionary.com, ‘Intelligence’ is:

  • Capacity for learning, reasoning, understanding, and similar forms of mental activity; aptitude in grasping truths, relationships, facts, meanings, etc.

  • Manifestation of a high mental capacity: He writes with intelligence and wit.

  • The faculty of understanding.

  • Knowledge of an event, circumstance, etc., received or imparted; news; information.

  • The gathering or distribution of information, especially secret information.))

Smart is a born-with potential, mainly inherited, depends on the size of your brain. Intelligence is what you make with what you got... through learning. What is in your brain...  what it can do.

You may be smart, but chances are 99.99% that you are not intelligent. Because intelligence shows up in your choices... oho... not good, right?

Your smart score stays the same for your entire life. Your intelligence changes with what you eat, what you just ate, how you feel, how you slept, and, of course, what you have taught your smart brain to do.

I was born with an average 100 smart score brain. My older brother was born with a 115 smart score brain.

His intelligence score was 100 for a long time, then he raised it to 115. I have raised my intelligence to 150, through the things I learned, through the things I did.

Learning is what makes your brain adaptable. Being adaptable is the number one criteria of self-selection, learning is what makes you perform activities that required from life, to make a living, and what are required by your "spirit" to become all you can be...to live a life worth living in all areas of life, health, wealth, relationships and fulfillment.
Learning in a civilization that only encourages learning in words... where the level of self-illusion is sky high, in a world like that learning is nearly impossible... Competence is rare in any area of life... and humanity is getting dumber.

But how do you teach people who know nothing about learning, who think they learn, but their lives prove it otherwise?

I have been sleeping well. Work through the day, 12-14 hours, by the way. And I have been doing a lot of work in my sleep.

Most of my work of learning how to teach happens while I sleep.

When you sleep with consciousness not turned off, i.e. I sleep consciously, I can actually see through the dreams that the brain is trying to make sense of the material, and goes over it over and over... ten, twenty, and if the material isn"t taking root, maybe more.

The work the brain is doing is is the work it takes to create those groupings  of neurons that will fire at the same time to solve problems. It"s work that cannot be done during the day: the brain needs to be free to put all its attention. ((Brain researchers, brain scientists say: neurons that fire together will wire together. This is true with learning through doing... like typing. But in intellectual learning, in my empathic view, the reverse is true: neurons need to be wired together through work, and through association, connecting the dots, before they start to fire together. I am going to get a lot of flak for saying this... just like for saying that smarts are born with... Oh,such is the life of a pioneer. First they will laugh at you...))

What I see in the way the dreams morph is that the brain tries it this way and that, until it makes sense.

For example, the idea that long term memory chunks combine with each other to form a raft was a big hooha ((hooha: A fuss, uproar, commotion or stir; hype)) for the brain. It wasn"t quite buying it... it was working, visually, with logs, but shaping and tying logs together wasn"t quite expressing what is actually happening in the brain.

So what is happening in the brain of people who want to learn something?

It is more like electrical switches combine to something bigger, and the switches, the order in which they turn on will be a determinant in the speed and ease of turning it on and using it.

I have visited the brain of some of my students who have a learned profession, and I didn"t find any functional "islands" of switches combined... Their brain never did the optimizing, combining, and thus making it instinctual and fast, the work the brain does at night.

Why? Because their brains were busy processing all the unfulfilled desires they have, all the hurts, all the offenses, all the petty grievances they have with the world, with the people in it. Not being able to perform their learned profession fast and well, automatically.

This is why machines will take over most of the work on earth, because they are faster than the plodding untrained brained people...

People, the teachers of the learning courses, the students, all think that it is enough to acquire good study habits, but I dare to differ.

Until you free up most of your brain from processing the inconsequential, insignificant, and emotionally charged petty stuff of the day, your life, your brain won"t be freed up to process learning.

Whether you"ve known it, or are just learning it now, everything I do when I raise your vibration, is invent or discover new ways to free your brain from having to deal with the minutiae of your day, by lifting you above and teaching you ways that you can see that most of what"s been keeping you busy was either untrue, or unreal... as in not real, not in reality, part of the universal hypnosis all human are trained to fall under...

Every single video, every single webinar, every single article is about that.

Because no matter how good learning habits you learn, if your brain won"t process, organize, and then "fixates" the process in your brain, you are as good as haven"t done any work.

Horrible but true.

The purpose of learning is to get something done. Learning to know is for the 99%, learning to use it is the 1%.

But if you have hundreds of impulses working against using that new knowledge, then the new knowledge cannot be implanted, and cannot be used.

It is easiest for me to see with knowledge and activities in the area of health... Why? Because it is largely the same for everyone. What you do for your work, for your relationships... that is different for every single person.

And I am watching people who take the information, maybe even test it, practice it for a while, but it never became "working knowledge" because it is dropped after a while... the moment conscious attention is drawn somewhere else, the new behavior based on the new knowledge disappears.

Only when you get to unconscious competence, i.e. you don"t have to think about it, that you actually built those neuron islands that are wired together so they can fire together.

There are eight students in the Playground that is halfway through the program.

One has a definite large island of neurons that fire together, and I have seen that new knowledge is able to connect to it. How do I know? There is joy. Excitement. A sense of adventure.

Another has two islands that she could connect new knowledge to, but she hasn"t.

And the six I haven"t mentioned? No islands of neurons that fire together.

When you can think without thinking, meaning your brain is thinking and you are free to do whatever you are doing, that is a sign that you have working "chunks" in your brain.

I remember when I was 16 years old, I had to change schools. In the new school they had a different practical knowledge teaching. In the old school it was, I don"t have a good word for it, but we cut, shaped, bent, rasped steel pieces in a factory. The boys had car repair.

In the new school the girls did shorthand and typing, so that is what I had to learn. But the class was a year and a few months ahead of me, so I had to catch up.

It was intense learning. Both shorthand and typing builds chunks in your brain, or it still has to remain conscious competence, so it will be slow and tiresome.

For months my brain was typing or alternatively shorthanding everything I thought, everything I hears spoken. Nights just weren"t enough time to do that.

I remember at the New Year"s Eve dance I wasn"t good company, because my brain was busy doing the "macarena" and I could not even speak.

But all that activity died down in about three months, and I became a great typist and an ever better shorthand person... my brain can still do it, even though my hands don"t remember the shorthand... especially because it was in Hungarian. Every language invents abbreviations differently, depending on the language.

And for those of you who have to write: if your typing skill is not completely automatic, you either type slowly, or what you write will be like a cart with only four wheels, clunky. Your conscious mind has to process finding the letters, and your brilliance will be decimated.

I play Freecell while I listen to stuff. My conscious brain is listening to the audio, and my autonomous brain is playing Freecell. And occasionally the autonomous brain finds you patterns... then I stop the audio and let the unconscious brain fix the new pattern into the neural structure, making it, unconsciously available for the future. But I do stop the audio... so the brain has freedom to do the work, and doesn"t have to juggle stuff that would prevent it from doing it.

I don"t multitask. Multitasking is using the same part of the brain for two things... I can"t do it, and neither can you. But you can switch back and forth...

In some partner calls I hear one party doing something that they need to pay attention to. Even eating is something you pay attention to... especially if you don"t want to let others in on the fact that you are eating.

So those segments of the partner calls are as good as never happened: you cannot hear when your attention is somewhere else.

Or you are on a call with me, and look up some stuff on google... or check your email... do you think you heard me while you were doing that?

Same is with your unconscious brain activity while you read, or try to listen. Your brain also works on something, most likely totally unrelated to what the reading or listening is about. Most likely about yourself, or about your feelings, about the future, about worrisome things.

Those things occupy two-three maybe even four or five of the seven working memory slots the brain can handle... So if the new thing is anything more complicated than what a kindergartner can process, you won"t get it, it will be noise to you.

I can hear this happening on the course sessions, or even in the one-on-one calls, especially when I listen to them from the recordings.

So you have nothing getting through the inside noise, and even if it did, you have no empty memory slots to process it with.

Catch 22, ((catch 22: a dilemma or difficult circumstance from which there is no escape because of mutually conflicting or dependent conditions.)) if I have ever seen one.

You are disabled every step of the way.

Until you clear your brain of processing memories, emotions, and other unreality... you can"t learn anything...

So this morning I have been pondering if the Kaizen method would be useful. The Kaizen method is the method of the tiny steps.

The size of steps your kindergartner brain can process all the way, from getting it, and from processing it into the permanent memory where the neurons get wired together, so they can fire together. ((“Kaizen is a teaching philosophy that is based on short learning units with many feedback loops and continuous testing of the students’ knowledge,” says a professor who teaches the Kaizen way.

and another quote:

Learn to be thorough before working on speed. The speed will come naturally with competence.))

You can see that the homework attitude: the result is more important than the process, kills learning...

If you cannot do it well slowly, you"ll remain bad at it, and worse at it at high speed...

Learning is a painstaking process...

...approximately learning is not learning, it is rushing through it, and the result: brains without neurons that fire together, entire populations with nothing usable in their brains. Nothing to produce with. Nothing to solve problems with. Nothing to learn new things with.

This is where we are right now. Humanity.

For most people, if you want to learn, you have to start at square one.

It"s both good news an bad news: bad news because you have lost a lot of time. Good news is: you are starting... if you are.

Most people, even if they are in my courses, will feel it is below them to start from nothing... their delusional self, the precious "I" won"t let them.

So what you read, what you listen to, cannot really have permission to connect to anything.

All my courses, all my programs are experiments.

I always include people who are hard to teach, and even people who are impossible to teach. This is why I need to take your starting point measurements before I accept you as a student.

Why don"t I just go for the on percent of the one percent that can be all they can be easily?

It is because of my commitment to all-knowledge, to Source.
All the learning, all the experiments are stored in all-knowledge to become the new starting point for humanity, when humanity will become interested in surviving as a species... if ever.

And the knowledge about my attempts to break through to people, to remove their barriers to learning, are going to become part of the all-knowledge... whether I succeed or not.

In the workshop where I start to formulate my From upset to Communication workshop, another experimental course, I cycle through several people who cannot be taught.

Interestingly, people who cannot be taught, won"t be taught flock to me... while people who want to learn, who are committed to learn, are rarely coming to me.

In that workshop session I spell out what attitude one needs to have to be willing and able to learn.

Not one person has been interested... and that is telling. Very telling.

If you are one of the exceptions, or you haven"t seen this offer before, you can still buy that video... and learn the magic words that can activate your willingness to learn.

Why am I making you pay for it?

Because for you talk is cheap. But if you paid to learn the words, maybe you"ll value them, at least a little bit.

Those words are worth a million bucks, or more for you... Million bucks that you won"t be able to earn without saying those words.

I want to learn those magic words and USE them!

3 reasons you aren’t doing what you say you will do

You can learn nearly anything on the internet if you know how to learn.

And yet, if you look, people don"t learn much, don"t do much, and the momentary excitement, the big promises die almost as fast as they were born, leaving the promiser frustrated, and puzzled why they can"t keep their word, and actually do what they said they would do.

As I was researching for you places you could learn how to learn, I found a TED video that is exactly what the doctor ordered for a few of my clients, so I am going to post it here.

And I am going to make it a tad easier to consume and maybe learn, by sharing what I do when I want to learn something.

It takes work. Preparation, and if you are in the habit of just listening to audios, now you know why you are not learning... in spite all the time you put in. You are not doing activity that is causing the information to become yours.

Three invisible dynamics I am learning from a TED talk

I just listened to a TED talk that shows three invisible dynamics why you don"t do what you said you would do.

It was a 17 minute talk, and I promptly forgot two of those three... but I want to know them, so what am I going to do?

If I listen one more time, the likelihood that I"ll remember more is about 5%... slim.

Instead, I am going to take a different approach: I am going to LEARN the three different ways.

How: I am going to take notes, and maybe I am even going to create a mindmap... a drawing.

So let"s see how long it will take me.

An hour... I even chopped up the audio part of the video to the five parts. In between I made myself lunch...

reason 1: we have a fixed mindset that tells us we can"t do it... we don"t have the ability or the talent. Remedy: grit

reason 2: people like me don"t do things like that... identity put together, not the truth

reason 3: Secretly you don"t want to do it... you do everything from some should, no intrinsic motivation. Remedy: develop some intrinsic motivations.

Principles... are you fighting a train for the right of way at a railway crossing: you can only lose

I woke up at 3 am with a start from a deep dream about principles spinning so hard that I could only follow them with full concentration...

I stared into the dark for a few minutes still seeing the images of the principles, and I got the words that go with the images:

Principles are like oncoming trains... you can"t fight them unless you want to crash your life.

I talk a lot about connecting the dots... and most don"t know what I am talking about. Connecting the dots is a highly intellectual activity based on SEEING that things are connected by more than just similarity: by invisible cords...

Most of Tai Lopez"s talks, especially the 67 Steps Program, are about deserving, Earning, Being, becoming an initiate into the secrets of the Universe.

Interestingly, he only gets a tiny corner of the idea, the concept, about 3% of it. And that is enough for him to teach it... hm... interesting. No wonder that not many of his students get it...

The secrets of the Universe, the principles WANT to hide. They don"t want to reveal themselves to the unworthy. But, I say, they should not worry, the unworthy cannot see them.

When you SEE the principles, when you SEE how it is, you SEE the working of the world.

And you get that A is A, and nothing is wrong, it is the way it is... And when you see that, you can be at peace, and you can enjoy life.

You don"t complain...
  • You don"t complain about the Kaleidoscope ((a toy consisting of a tube containing mirrors and pieces of colored glass or paper, whose reflections produce changing patterns that are visible through an eyehole when the tube is rotated.a constantly changing pattern or sequence of objects or elements.)) changing its colors... and won"t stick with that pretty blue you so love.

  • You don"t complain about the weather: the weather is doing what the weather must do.

  • And you don"t complain about your case or about your Silver Bullet or about your soul correction... they are there for a reason, they are there to sharpen your wits, build your character on them.

Now, what does it take to earn/deserve becoming an initiate? An insider? Someone who sees?

There is a very important distinction that I need to repeat till your nose bleeds: truth repeated is a lie.

This is true about any truth. When you repeat anything, it means you didn"t see it, you are saying the words. All mind. Chatter, worthless.

ONLY when you see it for yourself that something is so, i.e. is true, that you can say a truth and it is a truth when you say it.

I know very few people who can do it... because most cannot see, or don"t even bother to look, only parrot.

The problem with being someone who sees is that other people will repeat what you said, and when they say it: it becomes a lie.

Sometimes I can hear a hint of slavishness in your voice... but the truth, the whole truth comes out when your actions are not consistent with having seen the truth you so diligently repeat...

One example of this is when you get offended by what I say. To you... about you.

If you were an initiate... you would not get personally offended, run away, hide, curse me, hate me. I am just pointing out your true nature you are here to correct.

I have a tendency to gossip, talk about people. Never before I came to the USA... interestingly. Hm...

It must have to do something with the energy of this country... it sneaked on me, imperceptibly. I only noticed when it was already full blown. Like an addiction... By talking about other people, I gained some temporary power...

I was lucky: I had some coaches that loved me enough to point it out to me.

I looked at it deeply. On one hand, my gossiping was damaging other people"s reputation. On the other, it was weakening me: it was taking someone"s power away and using it to lift myself up.

Interestingly, gossiping takes two... like tango. The speaker and the listener.

The lower the listener"s vibration, the more gossip they hear... because everything bad or unfavorable about another person makes them feel better about themselves. If the other person hears gossip... then I am still gossiping... So I haven"t beaten it yet... because I do talk about other people, whether they are students or other teachers.

If you compare yourself with others, and you feel you come out on top: that is a good indicator that your vibration is low...

Yesterday a person who paid for their Starting Point Measurements sent me a note after they received them: Very humbling, she said. And she was above average...

So there is nothing rare about you hearing gossip when no gossip was meant, where you hear judgment, where no judgment was meant.

You don"t see the world the way the world is, you see the world the way you are... and that is why your world is so... what... empty? bleak? boring? hopeless?

I have two forum-like sites. One for the accountability program, the other for the Reclaim coaching.

When I first set them up, they worked like clockwork.

But times a-changing... and nowadays it takes some finagling to be able to use them: I haven"t been able to find a new software to replace it. (I am testing one now)

If you keep on expecting life to work the way it "should", you are doing it everywhere in life... expecting rain when it doesn"t, cool weather when it is hot... and altogether life making an exception for you. It won"t... and now you are bummed. You want to get off your life and start another one.

But no matter where you go, you take yourself with you...

...and your unwillingness to see that the world is the way the world is, your resistance to it is like fighting a train for the right of way at a railway crossing: you can only lose.

Now, what can you do?

One of the secrets of life is this: reading, hearing something will not cause any learning.

Learning is a specific process where you become an owner by doing.

You need to find doing to anchor the ideas. Spiritual Practices are the doing of learning.

I watched a great TED talk yesterday... on how to learn anything on a rudimentary level in 20 hours... and suddenly I have two ideas, two things I have been procrastinating about, because they didn"t seem to be learnable for me...

But the TED talk reminded me of the old adage: how you eat an elephant: one bite at a time.

How do you eat an elephant? one bite at a time

If you can chunk it, you can learn it. If you can learn it, you can make real headway in must 20 hours of doing.

So, I am of the mind to suggest that we create a learning community, where we support ourselves and each other in doing 20 hour stints of learning... learning to do stuff. Skill building.

The Bumbling Idiot"s way to earn a life worth living

If I look closely, the number 1 reason why people never amount to much is this: they expect that a winning plan can be made and followed, and take you to success.

But that is not the nature of reality and not the nature of success.

Incidentally, 99% of humanity thing that, and 99.4% of the unsuccessful people.

Even people who had a vision for their success, like Arnold Schwarzenegger could not have an exact plan, because things are not visible ahead of time, they can only be seen in hindsight.

So why does this phenomenon cause people to be unsuccessful?

Because they wait for a plan to materialize. And they plan to follow it.

The plan will be shortsighted, if it ever comes, and will not include building the necessary character, the necessary toughness, the necessary skills.

So every step you are trying to build success on thin air... and, of course, it won"t work.

One of the "skills" you need to acquire if you want to live a life of success, is the skill or learning, and learning fast.

Here is the amazing TED talk to tell you how to do that... ((Summary: Just 20 hours is enough to become “reasonably good” at any skill.
1. Deconstruct the skill - Break the skill down into its most basic parts. Which parts are necessary for hitting the goal you have? (i.e. if your goal is to sing a song in Korean, you can primarily focus on pronunciation, not learning a bunch of vocabulary)
2. Learn enough to self correct - Learn enough to realize when you"re making mistakes.
3. Remove barriers to practice - Turn off your phone, unplug the TV. Put your guitar, piano, language book in the middle of your room, not behind your stack of dirty laundry.
4. Practice for at least 20 hours - Commit to 20 hours from the start. You"re going to be frustrated at times, so committing beforehand will help you push through the frustration.?))

I have learned all the skills I have, trades, and more with this exact technique... even though I wasn"t conscious of that fact until I watched Josh Kaufman"s TED talk...

Leaning skills opens you up to see what you like, what is a good fit, which thing you want to learn next.

It also helps you get to an acceptable level with the skills I teach.

Warning: watching my videos won"t count into the 20 hours: you actually need to practice.

If you practice a grand total of five minutes a day, and do it not deliberately, you"ll never get there.

The learning needs to be deliberate, and intense enough to count.

I don"t know anyone who learned an instrument, a language, driving a car in five minute increments... do you? And yet that is what passes for practice in your world... oh, and watching videos... reading.

You need to organize your life to have a chunk of time daily, or five days a week... and you"ll get the hang of it...

You won"t become an expert, unless you"ll see that that is what you want, and then you"ll continue past the 20 hours...

Register for the challenge.

We"ll have a webinar to help you find a useful skill to learn... or a fun skill... or anything worth learning, worth playing with, worth experimenting with.

If you don"t register, you won"t be invited to the webinar.

I myself have two things in mind... for myself. Shaking in my boots... lol. Scary as hell... but also exciting.

Some of my students are already doing it, but could do it more systematically, so they are not excluded.

I have set up a new forum to use for this 20 hour learning challenge...

What can the Nobel Prize winning physicist"s story teach you?

What can the Nobel Prize winning physicist"s story teach you? OR What did Frank Kern learn the hard way?

First, before I get into the story itself, let"s ponder the meaning of teaching so we are on the same page, shall we?

As someone who attempts to teach, let me tell you what it"s like for me: I find a thousand different ways to say, demonstrate, frame what I want to teach. I invent thousand and one stories, I find books that hint on what I want to teach, I sing it, I make it a comedy, make it a tragedy, I make you read, I make practice activating your eye muscles and the related brain areas...

And if I do it long enough with enough enthusiasm, I may get a few people to learn what I teach... but most of the time it is a real uphill battle.

So what I mean to convey: teaching doesn"t equal learning.

For the ones not learning it is all the teacher"s fault... But the poor teacher...

Actually the poor teacher can get really rich because of it.

Here is a great example: Frank Kern has been teaching for about 19 years without anyone really EVER learning what he is teaching.

At first he was raking it in, because the methods he taught didn"t get fully learned by his customers.

They cried bloody murder, and the FCC listened to the accusers, and changed the game for everyone, and took everything away from Kern.

Then he came back, told the story on stage, and started to teach more, but this time saying: he cannot promise because he isn"t allowed to, by the FCC.

People were buying his products like hotcake, yours truly included, and if they were really special, with some personal help from Kern, they produced noteworthy but flash in the pan result.

Flash in the pan results mean: you didn"t learn what was being taught.

If you listen to/watch a Frank Kern video, you may get to the level of understanding. Not all, but a nice number of people do.

Then what happens? You run into snags when you try to do what he teaches you to do.

So you complain... you say he deceived you.

Frank get enough of FCC trouble back when, so he changes his business model, and... gasp: continues teaching, now for free, and takes on a few clients and starts teaches them... and even those big money, successful clients can"t duplicate his teaching... or not quite.

So what he is doing now, if he deems you and your business a good choice for his teaching, he teaches you one thing and monitors your doing or that one thing... and gets paid handsomely for it.

Can all of those clients do what he tells them to do? Hell no... not exactly. Which means not the kinds of results your business can produce.

So he moves one step further from teaching, and creates a do it for you agency... again big freaking bucks... and still some not so great results.

All the while, he gives away his simple sounding advice, for free... without any concern that you"ll get something for nothing.

Now, why is that that he now doesn"t charge for what he used to sell for a lot of money?

So here comes the story of the Nobel price winning physicist who taught at a famous university:

When interviewed he shook his head sadly: it is hard to find any student for my graduate course to whom I can teach to do physics. ((His weeding technique for suitable candidates was this: he would ask them why they were wearing the jacket they were wearing to the interview. Depending on how they answered,  he could gauge their creativity... I often use the same method, and find later that creativity is missing for the person.))

Why? asked the interviewer? Because they learned physics, what they think they know, while I "invented" physics, what I want to teach.

Learning means: you get someone else"s knowledge, and you think you know it.

But when you test it, you cannot build on it, you cannot use it... you can only regurgitate it.

Why? it is second hand knowledge, what is also called Tree of Knowledge.

  • The first principle is that you must not fool yourself and you are the easiest person to fool.

  • What I cannot create, I do not understand.

  • For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled.

The process to make it your own is a creative process, where you make the second hand knowledge your own.

I call it "connecting the dots". Others call it creativity. You can also call it "play".

It depends on opening up "spiritual" capacities in your DNA, capacities like recognizing patterns accurately, and the ability to look widely and see unrelated areas of life in the same glance, so you can see the same pattern in more than the area you first saw it.

And the ability and the willingness to lose your agenda... agenda, any agenda, narrows your cone of vision, narrows your ability to see what is outside of the agenda.

The other thing that it depend on is how much knowledge you have in how many different areas of life, science, industry, art, politics, humanities, etc.

If you don"t have enough, if your world is small, then you won"t have a chance to connect too many dots.

The Nobel Prize winning physicist and I have one thing in common and that is this: when we were young, we both went on vacation with a book that had a companion book with the solutions. Mine was mathematics, his was physics... I guess.

What I cannot create, I do not understand.

And both him and myself spent the whole vacation inventing the solutions to the problems in our book...

It change me, to my core. It changed my attitude forever. From thereon I was never satisfied with explanations, or being shown solutions... I had to invent my own... until I got to marketing.

There I found an impenetrable wall. I found myself without any tools to invent my own solutions...

I found that my world was severely limited by my inability to ask good questions, to create boundaries that make the solutions pop out.

It turns out that this, the ability to limit the view at will, not in its width, not in its depth, but in its "resolution" i.e. its particle size or its relevance is everywhere...
  • It"s there when I muscle test for missing nutrients.

  • It"s there when I muscle test for the "healing" diet

  • It"s there when I want to isolate what sensation in my body would give me answer to the question: what"s going on that I feel this or that?

  • And, it"s there when I have no idea how to answer the marketing questions that would enable me to give a direction to my marketing.

I have spent a week, maybe two watching video after video, Frank Kern"s videos, TED talks, being really curious to find some answers why I am such an incompetent fool in marketing.

And yesterday I suddenly saw what Frank Kern does... so now I can put some effort in going from consciously incompetent fool, to consciously competent, and maybe even unconsciously competent with enough practice.

Even if it takes blood, sweat and tears, it is exciting. It is exhilarating, to tell you the truth.

Once you start connecting the dots, the world is your oyster, in that area... the number of dots you can connect... area.

Otherwise your knowledge is like little island nations warring for dominance, all saying that they are the most important to your success in life.

If you are sure, you are an arrogant fool

If you look at the number of TED talks that say: the one thing, the most important piece of knowledge, what you miss... the answer... you can see all the people who don"t have a network of knowledge, who don"t have dots to connect, who live in a small world and ignore the rest... narrow cone of vision, no curiosity, even the Nobel Prize winning speakers... sorry to break it to you.

In my programs I endeavor to take you through the phases to enable you to connect the dots: to acquire the abilities, turn on the spiritual capacities to be able to connect the dots.

But, honestly, I am contemplating abandoning teaching, or making it completely free (and ineffective) and taking on clients for whom I can do, or direct them to do one limited thing and keep an eye on how they do it.

No need to understand... just do it, and rake it in.

While I may keep on some private clients whom I can practice what I can do to turn "human being" on.

What can the Nobel Prize winning physicist"s story teach you?

Unless you know what you learned, you didn"t learn anything

The last joke I heard before I left Hungary has stayed with me... and it"s very apropos today

Here is the joke: What are the two paths for Hungarian intelligentsia? ((intelligentsia: intellectuals or highly educated people as a group, especially when regarded as possessing culture and political influence.))

Answer: alcoholism. The other path is impenetrable..., in practice there is no second path.

This article is about humans, about you. And it tries to establish that in fact it"s possible to penetrate a second path... an evolutionary path, to become a human being, even if 99.5% of humanity isn"t interested in that path.

So let"s see how that applies to how it is today...

There are two schools of thought: the two paths... You really either choose the one or the other. There is no compromise...
  • School of Thought 1. Increase your desire, eliminate blocks to what you want, and what you desire will come to you. All you need is a person who can help you "poof" eliminate the blockages and you"ll be bathing in money, love, and popularity... if that is what you want. ((The most popular pages on my site are about matching your vibration with the vibration of what you want... money))

  • School of Thought 2. You need to deserve (earn) what you want... by becoming worth a damn. You need to create value that you exchange to what you want. To create value you need lots of skills, lots of knowledge. You need to excel and when you stand out (that is the meaning of excel!) then you"ll be able to earn what you want.

In the first school of thought

In the first school of thought, you are directed by the passive mindset. The "poof" person will do it for you. And when your blockages disappear, money, love, popularity will flow to you.

[caption id="attachment_38991" align="alignleft" width="300"] BLD034323[/caption]

Pure magic.

Worth paying for it. Worth mortgaging your house for it. Because the return on investment is: you give a little, and then you get multiple of your investment back. Who wouldn"t want to go for that kind of investment, right?

In your imagination you are already spending that money. Private jet, check. Seaside mansion, check. Liveried staff, check. What else could you want? What else anyone could want?

And the "poof" person is raking it in. Millions. Billions. YOUR money...

And anyone who tells you you need to do anything else deserves to be frowned at, because you know. You know how the world works. How the world responds to desire...

The second school of thought

The second school of thought is for suckers... really, what were they thinking? Expecting you to work, to apply yourself, to do things for nothing? for learning?????

They even intimate that you should find a mentor, or opportunities to work for free, just to learn stuff.

No way will you do anything that doesn"t have an immediate return. Work for free? Who do they think they are?!

Develop skills, become so good they can"t ignore you? Dream on sucker... I am already good enough.

OK, you get my drift... maybe... that I am mocking the adherents of the first school of thought.

They are the moochers, looters, the second handers of the world. The 99.5% of the world. The ones that live in their dreams, but wake up with their hands in the potty.

Of course the charlatans that take advantage of the stupid dreamer belongs to the 1/2 percent... because, truth be told, you need to belong to the second school of thought to have developed the skills that allow you to sell all the hogwash they are selling. Mucho mucho high level skills.

99.5% of the buyers of the 67-steps program are adherents of the first school of thought. Tai, the creator of the program, manages to pull of something really hard: to speak as if he were speaking to the second group, and yet attract the first.

I am observing my students in my Reclaim program.

Their job is to listen to a step of the 67 steps and pull out, for themselves, the principle or principles of the step, and what it is they need to DO so the principle can be alive and operational in their lives.

How well is it working, you ask?

How well is it working for me? For them?

Let"s ask a different question, shall we? Something that is not about how I feel or how they feel...

How many times (percentage) do people write back to me with quoting the principle, and saying what it is they need to do to be able to have learned from the step, to have the principle alive in their lives?

I would say zero. Zero percent.

Now, why is that?

Unless you know what you learned, you didn"t learn anything!

My hunch is that the culture of the mind says: you heard it you got it.

That there is no need, EVER to double down on something, to identify it, to learn how to do it, or how to undo an unproductive mindset or habit.

The culture has been winning, hands down.

The culture of internet memes... everybody say ooh, and ah... and no one considers acting on it. As long as you said your oohs and your ahs, you are good to go.

So while in the 67 steps Tai was dancing on the razor"s edge, he is coming out, every month, with a new shyster program promising the sky to people who will not be able to take advantage of the opportunity.

So let"s talk about opportunity, shall we?

An opportunity is to make a big step almost instantly. A set of circumstances that makes it possible to do something. To take advantage of a new software, a new program, a job offering, a date, meeting your best match.

The saying says: opportunity favors the prepared mind, but that is a lie. Opportunity favors the prepared person.

Prepared? you ask.

Yes, prepared is the one who has made themselves a match to the opportunity way before the opportunity arose.

  • Charlie Munger was already a high achiever when Warren Buffet invited him into his firm. It was an opportunity for him that he could take advantage of, because he was already skilled in the thing Warren Buffet wanted him to do.

  • Arnold Schwarzenegger was already an accomplished body builder when Joe Weider got a glimpse at him at age 20 (?). Arnold had been already an amazing body builder... not just hoping to be.

But what about you? Are you prepared for opportunity?

The 67 steps program, supported with coaching, is an amazing opportunity to ferret out what is your strength, what is your weakness, and start working on both so when an opportunity comes you can be a match to it.

So far only two people in the program are developing skills following the guidance.

The rest... they haven"t left the mirage of the first school of thought. They haven"t left the idea that listening to a step, listening to a webinar, reading my articles is as good as building a skill, abandoning a bad habit, or attaining real working knowledge.

Dreamers... who unless they wake up and smell the coffee, they will wake up to the smell of the potty with their hand in it.

Life responds to action: it doesn"t respond to wishing. Or desire. Or dreams.

And please abandon that reading this article once, or even a thousand times, will surely make a difference.

Unless something in your behavior changes, nothing changess. Really.

If you find yourself nodding... stop now. Buckle down, and ask yourself: what is the principle(s) I am spelling out in this article? What action(s) do you need to take to have the principle operational in your life?

And then take that action. From now till eternity.
Oh, you thought it was enough to do it once? Hell, that is another mirage... Get rid of it. Life doesn"t support that idea either.
