If the opportunity to step into the success you crave came along: would you be able to take advantage of it?

I was listening to the step that talks about being prepared for opportunity.

Now, please listen up, I intend to teach you a spiritual practice. So if you listen "about", in a gossipy way, you won"t get anything, and that would be a pity.
The step says: be so good that they can"t ignore you.
But: you can"t just be "so good" from out of the blue. It is a point on a journey of a thousand steps.

The problem for most people is: what should be the first step?
