Guaranteed to make you feel happy: It"s all in a day"s work

It"s all in a day"s work

Of all the things I have ever said to myself, this is the most potent saying.

It has saved me from suffering, it has saved me from all the nasty feelings that plague humans nowadays: belligerence, entitledness, feeling slighted, frustration, anger, laziness, yearning, wanting, and more.

How? Why?

Because the saying puts you in the present moment where nothing is ever wrong, where nothing is too much, where nothing is supposed to be different than the way it is, and it isn"t supposed to mean something, and it doesn"t.

To the degree I can bring this "It"s all in a day"s work" to bear in my life, to the same degree I can be happy.

I have been dealing some health issues... mostly pain. Some are really scary pain... it seems I am dying.

When I bring "it"s all in a day"s work" to it, then I just go through the pain, because when it hurts, what there is to do is go with the pain. Hurts a lot... then that is what there is to go though: lots of pain.

Going through life without resistance transforms every activity into a source of flow, a source of "of course", and it is all good.

  • When I have computer troubles, what there is to do is research how to fix it, how to make it work.

  • When I have to wait two hours for my ride, what there is to do is wait, and fill the time with useful activity, like reading on my kindle.

  • When someone interrupts me at the most interesting part of the book, is what there is to do is smile, and have an enriching conversation... the book can wait.

  • When I can"t fall asleep, what there is to do is stare into the darkness, or visit old memories, or just breathe... and rest.

  • When I am tired, what there is to do is rest.

  • When I am rested, what there is to do is notice that I am rested and return to work.

Life is in constant flow, enjoyable.

  • When walking hurts, what there is to do is put one foot after the other. The longer it hurts, the further I get.

  • When someone"s smile lights up the room, what there is to do is compliment them on their smile...

Life is lived with ease and grace, when you bring "it"s all in a day"s work" to it.

I used to say, before I learned to say "this too shall pass" but it was still making it wrong, and I held my breath, so I didn"t have to be present to what I wanted to pass... whatever was happening.

Different soul correction people deal with life differently.

  • Circuitry people stop the flow... get stuck in everything, don"t want life to be the way life is...

  • Removing hatred just want to block out the ugly, be all pink colored glasses... but the ugly is there, and what there is to be with is the ugly.

  • Revealing the dark side... hopes that if they judge strong enough, then they separate themselves from the dark... but judgment creates darkness in them... so life is not pretty

  • Memories are really "clear" how life is supposed to be, so they are hardly ever even noticing how it is... they can only see life in the contrast... it"s not how it is supposed to be.

  • Silent Partner is the rule maker, the belligerent rule maker, feeling forced, feeling put upon, feeling unwilling, picking and choosing what should be in a day"s work...

As you see, it is not easy and light being an untrained human... It is mostly: "not this and not that"... suffering.

I learn a lot by observing dogs.

A well trained dog is happier than an untrained dog. The untrained pulls on its leash, jumps on people, whines, barks, and all that behavior would get them killed in the wild...

A trained dog is happy... it can relate to what there is to do like I do: "It"s all in a day"s work" and stop trying to change, trying to fix, trying to complain, and fuss, and anger, and be unhappy.

As you can see, the strait and narrow, the Anna Karenina Principle: "it is all in a day"s work" has lots of "opposites"... of the flavor of "this is how it should be"... all the way to "I should feel good all the time".

I saw something yesterday: when I am willing to look for examples of a new word, like jaunty: naturally bouncy and happy, no pretense, no airs... and let the new "example" know I noticed, I can make fans, friends, or just someone happy to have met me.

  • I saw a jaunty person and did just that: let her know that I saw that. And she was rewarded... and we had a meaningful albeit short conversation: my ride was ready to ride... lol.

  • I talked to a prickly radio personality yesterday and thanked him for returning me to love music again. He said: that was the nicest thing you have ever told me...

Letting people know what you appreciate about them can remind you to appreciate... Appreciate is tricky word: its root, the word"s root is "precious", set a price, appraise... which we would call today: value... see as valuable.

People can"t appreciate unless they see value. And they cannot see value unless they appreciate. Tricky, eh?

Our natural inclination is to devalue... so we can feel superior to it... whatever the "it" is... But being more valuable that something that has no value is not valuable at all...

The more value you can detect, the more value you seem to have... Because you don"t see the world the way the world is, including value. You see the world the way you are... valueless, if that is how you are for yourself.

And devaluing another"s action, their gesture, their gift, for example, by explaining that you are so noble, or whatever you present yourself as, is reducing you to not having any value to yourself... darn...

The strait and narrow is at it again... lol.

The 20-day skill learning challenge is a great time to observe your relationship to yourself, your value, your habits, your ability to appreciate, your attitude.

  • You can"t learn what you already know.

  • You can"t grow if you fancy yourself as big as you can get.

  • You can"t love if you hate.

  • You can"t fix anything really, because in reality nothing is ever wrong... so you are trying to fix unreality... and you know how that ends up... with more disappointments, with more frustration, with more self-hatred.

Try out "it"s all in a day"s work" and mean it.

Let me know how it works for you.

The Michelangelo Method of becoming you

As I said it before, I have a strong affinity to the dramatic... in every area of life. This may be part of my bipolar personality... taking things to the extreme.

I do that with food... I call them experiments, but largely these are experiments taken to the just too much...

And, or course, I pay the price. With my health, mainly.

But... as in everything, there is a silver lining, a benefit, that I would be amiss not to appreciate.

I have discovered almost everything in the area of health this way. Or in the area of training, self or others... or in anything else.

So my latest "fad" thing has been sorghum. I cooked up a huge vat of sorghum seeds with sauteed (fried?) onions and butter... delicious.

Yesterday I ran out of anything else to eat... so I ate sorghum for breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner... lol.

And by today I had symptoms of allergy... sniffling.

As is my habit, I arrived to my exercise class early. Normally I am first, but today there were three people already there. I had a conversation with one of them, a home health aid...

Turns out we have a dramatically opposing view on how to improve health. The conversation was about inflammation.

Her method is: find out what can reduce inflammation, and add it to your already too much food you eat.

She is fat...

I suggested that to get to anything the path that is fastest and most effective is removing what is obviously causing trouble. The Anna Karenina Principle in action.

We went through this conversation for about 20 minutes, during which I repeated the principle: the path that is the fastest and most effective is removing what obviously causes trouble.

It seems that removing anything doesn"t fit well with people. this is why certain jokes, where the punchline is "then stop doing that" are evergreen... even though they are common sense. Doctor, when I do this, my arm hurts... So stop doing that! says the doctor.

Common sense is not that common, in fact, common sense is quite rare.

It must be the culture that corrupts us... a cat, a dog know to stop eating what makes them sick.

But then I realized something: removing stuff is bold. And even to see that the stuff is doing you something bad needs you to be present, and pay attention. You need to be bold.

You need to get to the edge to make it obvious to get it through your thick head... or you can just continue walking about in a dream state, noticing nothing, the "normal" state of all humans I know.

One of my longtime students is an empath. Empathy, at the core, means that you feel other people"s feelings as your own, and even stronger than your own.

All the things I do with empathy are the result of training... using that empathy as a weapon, precisely and creatively.

Well, this student never actually believed me when I told him that he was an empath, five years ago, and therefore has spent his life getting guidance from other people"s feelings.

The thing is, even your own feelings are not useful to guide you, no matter what Abraham/Hicks says, but other people"s feelings? They are definitely a misdirection.

I suggested that he starts to ask the question: do I have a reason to feel this way? And, of course, he doesn"t.

You feel all kinds of fears, and they make you shrink, they make you timid, they make you small.

Until you learn to ask the question: do I really have a reason to feel this way? whether you are an empath or not, you will keep on shrinking.

As you penetrate the mechanism of how you are reduced to a reaction, penetrate the mechanism that takes away your self-determination, your courage, your ability to act in life, you free yourself to become more, more you, happier, more fulfilled.

It goes in the direction evolution was supposed to go: for humans to become a magnificent godlike human being.

It is all a takeaway process.

You take away what was added to humans, layers upon layers of "no common sense" behavior: you behave guided by other people"s suggestions, words or feelings, and you lose yourself.

It takes work to get yourself back, to remove everything that is not you, everything that is not useful, everything that is not even enjoyable, even if other people suggest that they should be.

The culture of humans is where every word has power except your own. Every word has a marker feeling attached to it, feelings that entrap you, enslave you, and take away your power.

Yesterday I had a chance to listen in to a Playground partner conversation.

One of the participants woke up early and had the thought that she should get up and take a walk outside. The thought was: I"ll do it for myself... and that was empowering. The bed was cozy, warm, and inviting, arguing that she deserved another 10 minutes sleep. But she said it again: I am doing it for myself, and popped out of bed, and enjoyed her walk.

We live dutifully, duty bound, and we resent it. Nothing is for ourselves.

But finding her own voice, finding her own words, she turned the tables on duty bound, on society, and she got up early for herself, walked for her own sake, and is now, potentially, on her way to become a person.

You are not even a person when you don"t give your own word power.

And just like with feelings, you can ask the question: is this my own word, or am I just saying what others want me to say?

You can peel away all the feelings, all the words of others, and become you.

As you can see, it is all a takeaway process: underneath all that crap, there is a you, crushed by the load that has been piled on you.

It is time to claim your freedom.

Give up liberties so you can have true freedom... or how fighting the strings on your puppet self create a life of unhappiness

Do you ever wonder why in spite of all your good qualities, nice acts, maybe even achievements, your vibration is low, maybe even very low?

Everyone hopes that their good acts redeem bad acts, but when we look at vibration: this is not what we find.

You cannot and should not ignore how reality works... so let"s look.

Your vibration is almost always lower than you think.

I have started to watch TV shows on the computer recently again, after months of just reading.

The show that I am watching now is The Closer, with Kyra Sedgwick as the star. Very educational.

Her character, Brenda Leigh Johnson is a Southern belle, so I was curious of the actor"s vibration and the character"s vibration.

Kyra Sedgwick"s vibration is 190, higher than 99% of humanity. Brenda Leigh Johnson: 100.

Breanda, the character is smart, produces results, but lacks authenticity (inauthenticity score: 70%) ... albeit I am sure most viewers love her. She is a great detective, but on the scale of "from human to human being..." the self-realization, self-actualization scale, she is near the bottom rang of the ladder.

In her starting point measurements, Brenda is 100% about herself... that is the lack of humility score. Her empathy score would be zero.

This means that no matter how many good things you do, how many good characteristics you have, what decides your vibration is the low vibration stuff you do.

This is the reason I have the emphasis on eliminating the stuff that is off the strait and narrow, that is off the Anna Karenina Principle. To the degree you eliminate that stuff, to the same degree your vibration will grow.

This is not what other people have been teaching you, is it?

And when you look, this is true about everything.
  • True about your health... the more of the junk that doesn"t make healthy you eliminate the better you are going to be.

  • It is true about happiness...

  • And it is true about fulfillment... eliminate one after the other the behavior and attitude that is counter to fulfillment.

  • Warren Buffet"s rule for money is "do not lose money".

What Warren Buffet isn"t saying, or probably doesn"t mean, is stop doing the things that work against your money. Spending on what you don"t need, spending more than you make, doing things slothfully and inconsistently.

The more you eliminate what doesn"t get you what you hope for... the closer you get to getting it.

Will you ever be fully on the strait and narrow? Probably not. I am still not there...

But when you ask your questions, you could ask: what am I doing that isn"t getting what I want? And that"s what you need to eliminate.

This is the principle I coach with... I don"t tell you what to do... I suggest what to eliminate. ((Both in my "Reclaim" coaching and in my advanced coaching... because I have found this method the most effective and expeditious.))

In my experience, most of what you do that takes you off the strait and narrow path that would get you what you want isn"t evil.

Upon examining a few of my students who underachieve, I have observed that most activities off the straight and narrow come from hurry. 70%...

It"s everywhere, and it prevents the individual from ever putting all power in all action ... ((Your Twitchy Little Bastard score is incredibly relevant in this regard.

Do you have ants in your ass? You will be an underachiever.

Here is a Yiddish word, Sitzfleish.

The word is German (though widely appropriated in Yiddish) and it literally means "butt flesh". (The meat of your ass, in other words.) But the figurative use of "Sitzfleish" means:

"The amount of endurance a person has for sitting still on his/her butt for the hours and hours and hours of time that it takes to get important work done."

Sitzfleisch is sort of the opposite of Ants In Your Pants.

The amount of Sitzfleisch you"ve got will directly influence how much work you can produce. How long you can stand it, to sit there and push through? Inspiration is beautiful, imagination divine, and we all love soaring dreams. But Sitzfleisch? Ass meat? THAT"S how you write your novel. That"s how you compose your symphony. That"s how you paint your masterpiece.

Some of us are more fortunate that others, in that we are, shall I say, NATURALLY gifted with an excess of Sitzfleisch. Others of us must build up that boredom-enduring flesh over time. But one way or another, the answer is in your butt.

Sit. Stay. Work. (And every once in a while, stretch.) Repeat.))

If I needed to use a physical example, I would use hammer and nail. If you don"t hit the nail smack in the middle, it will take many hits to drive it in. And I am yet to see a person who can hit a nail smack in the middle if their attention is not on what they are doing.

Your attention is directed to somewhere other than where you are going, what you are doing... so your hammer will effectively be as big and as heavy as if it were a jeweler"s hammer... not very good at driving nails into wood.

When you see a marshal art person stand and breathe before they attempt to break a big log, or many bricks with just their hands, what they are doing is pulling back their attention to one point... so their "hammer" can be as big as it is... not dispersed.

A person who does his work while his attention wanders to thinking what the next thing they will do, or what they"ll have for lunch, or what"s going on at home, or anything, are underachieving at work.

To the degree you have all of yourself put behind everything you do, all of yourself, to the same degree your work will produce the results you can produce... and surprisingly, to the same degree you"ll experience joy and fulfillment in your work, in your everything.

I am not sure I know how "they" trained you to multi-task, and believe that you"ll get more life out of your life when you do.

They were lying to you. And robbing you or the experience of life that is possible for you.

On the strait and narrow you have all your parts, all your team: your soul, your body, your mind, your attention, your ego all work in the same direction: they are a team of sled pulling dogs, or like a team of Lipicai... ((Lipica is a Hungarian village where the breed Lipicai is from... google it if you want to know more.)) Lipizzaner... ineffective when not in sync... and a killer of life.

As children we wanted liberty... and we still insist on it. But liberty is highly overrated.

The highest vibration, the highest level of human prizes freedom: disciplined inner and outer behavior creates the sense of freedom that is worth having.

Not freedom from... freedom from is still in the dominion of liberty... rebelling against restrictions, discipline, imposed by anyone, including yourself.

You could ask any person, all seven billion, and would see a strong correlation of data:

The more someone insists on liberty, the less happy they are, and the less results they have in their lives.

The two cultures I am familiar with that prize discipline the most are Germans and Chinese.

And they are also, as a rule, higher achievers, and more self-realizing than other nations.

It is not in their DNA, loving discipline. It is in the culture. I have had clients from either culture who lived outside of their culture, and were lost and unhappy, and unfulfilled... because the discipline they thrived in was removed.

In my own family, my father was extremely disciplined in certain areas... He wrote his dissertations and 14 books while the television was blasting next to his ears.

His "hammer" never strayed an inch from his nail.

I was the runt of the litter... sickly, important parts missing...

And yet I accomplished disproportionately more than my brothers. All because I idolized my father and his discipline.
  • Reading books trains you discipline.

  • Doing the eyeQ exercises with the right mindset trains your discipline.

  • Eating foods that keep your blood sugar level even...

  • Sleeping at the same time and the same length of time...

  • Avoiding the roller coaster emotional life... pick your battles

  • Physical exercise, like running or walking that allow time to ponder and digest all the things that you don"t have time during a normal day
Keeping the need to make choices to the minimum by creating a life with well-designed habits and habit stacks...

Werner Erhard used to say: don"t brush your teeth creatively... reserve creativity to where it will produce something worth producing.

Almost everything I did in my childhood required my body and my attention to work well together.
  • Ballet... precise movements... the moment your attention lags, you injure yourself.

  • Violin... the left hand and right hand had to play well together.

  • Languages... without discipline you"ll speak and write sloppily...

The more your culture craves liberty the lower achiever you are tend to be.

It will be up to your, individually and personally, to turn that around, if you want real results in real life... Freedom instead of liberty.

Give up liberties so you can have true freedom... or how fighting the strings on your puppet self create a life of unhappiness

Healing... is that a negative word? Is that a sign of negativity?

Did you know that if you say: I need healing, what you are saying is that you are sick?

This includes inner healing, faith healing, etc...

And when you start from something wrong... like "I am sick", you are on your way to create a context that is misery every step of the way.

If I needed to define what negativity is, it"s that "what is is wrong, and it needs to be fixed."

Yesterday I was leading my Theta State training webinar, and I felt horrible. Partially, because I wasn"t feeling well myself. Partially because my students didn"t feel well. And yet partially because one of my students wrote to me, and I needed to feel their feelings stronger than they felt them... because I am an empath.

If you want the good life, you"ll need to "do" life differently

If you want the good life, you"ll need to learn some stuff, and unlearn some stuff... but most importantly you"ll have to learn how to and how not to... Remember the how? How you do anything is how you do everything... it is the approach, the attitude, the beingness.

There are a great many ways you can remain unaccomplished, and left behind in life.

Almost as many ways as many people. This is the Anna Karenina Principle.

As with everything, the strait and narrow works.

Most people don"t know that what keeps them off the strait and narrow is ideas they invented, made up, and now consider the truth.

One such idea is that unless you can jump tall buildings in one leap, you should just think about it, grieve about it, and do nothing.

Updated: The attitudes of Poverty vs. Affluence... Can you learn the right attitudes?

This article slipped by a lot of people. And today where I keep talking about the small actions that cause and then cement your epigenetic shift, this article is more important than it was a year ago when I first wrote it. Onto the article...
... in Neal Stephenson"s novel "Reamde" he remarks that affluent parts of all cities are similar, but poor parts of cities are miserable in their own way.
What causes success, and what causes failure? Or we could say, what causes affluence, and what perpetuates poverty?

It"s habits. It"s the thing you do (or not do), day in and day out. The things you take care of and the things you don"t.

But if you look, a habit you see are only the tip of the iceberg... maintaining it, keeping it permanently, unchangeably in place.

NEW: What do you need to do to raise your vibration?

http://www.yourvibration.com/wp-content/uploads/StraitAndNarrow.gif
Mary asks: what do I need to do to raise my vibration?

To be able to answer that question, we need to agree on what the vibrational number indicates.
What does the vibrational number indicate?
Unfortunately, unlike a speedometer that only measures one thing: speed, unlike a thermometer, that only measures one thing, temperature, the vibrational scale measures a lot more.

And the Anna Karenina principle starts kicking in: Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way. Or the way Aristotle expressed it: For men are good in but one way, but bad in many.
