Should you become a client? Would I even accept you as a client?

For decades one of my sore spots was that people refused to serve me, even though I paid them.

I remember saying to myself: my money is not good enough for you? and wept.

I had no idea how I "accomplished" that... in 20/20 hindsight it is still a little spotty.

What wasn"t clear to me, never even occurred to me, how my attitude effected the service provider. My "To what degree you think of yourself:" starting point measure was, at the time, 70%. From my behavior I would have guessed it was higher.

Mainly I overrode what they said. I argued, I knew better, I acted with contempt...

What I didn"t know then is that being a service provider needs to be a win, or no service.

A customer who is not happy is a drag on an provider, and not worth the little (or even a lot of) money they pay.

I was that kind of customer...

By 1987 I started to see more of the invisible dynamic that was running my life, that kept me an angry victim, that made me feel entitled, etc.

With that my vibration rose, even without getting fully conscious and aware of how I used to be, my attitude changed, and life got better for me. Because no man is an island, and I did need help.

One of the most important criteria, it seems, is whether the provider is allowed to make a difference or not.

One of my measurements in the Starting Point Measurements [note]1. your vibration (1-1000):
2. your overall intelligence, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, body, relationship, etc.:
3. the number of spiritual capacities you have:
4. your soul correction (your machine): https://www.yourvibration.com/sc
5. do you have attachments?
6. the level of your health (1-100):
7. the level of your cell hydration (1-100):
8. your relationship to feedback and instruction:
9. The level of discomfort you are willing to allow w/o trying to fix it. This is your TLB score...
10. The size of your vocabulary: the number of words you can use accurately:
11. To what degree you think of yourself:
12. # of fixed mindset:
13. Ambition:
14. Desire:
15. Degree of inauthenticity overall:
16. Level of integrity 1-100:
17. how enslaved are you to memes? (what percentage of your life is run by memes?)
18. do you have a bridge between your precious "I" and your actual I? your level of delusion
19. Recommendations:

[/note] is your response, your attitude regarding feedback and instruction. I used to answer that with the category from a book I read: "smart, foolish, evil" but I abandoned that categorization: I didn"t like what I was getting.

I became more interested in what someone does when they don"t like the instruction or the feedback. A lot of people, after the initial emotional state, come back and do what they are asked to do...

If I can tell them: read this book and without justification, without explanation, they go and read it. They may feel reluctant, resistant, angry, but because I asked them they say: OK and do it.

In 1987, green and still with a huge attitude, I signed up a year long training program: Team, Management, Leadership. Why? I didn"t have any reason, I just liked to get trained.

Four of the five weekends of the of the course were in California. I remember sitting at the airports by myself: I was a lone ranger... unaware that my loneliness was a result of my own attitude... [note]That became conscious for me only some 20 years later, when I created a collage to deal with this seeming reality: I am alone. I wrote about it, I think, in another post. The top picture. (the bear on one side, on the top of a tree, and the multitude of penguins, and people, on the other side) is the collage that allowed me to see. And for the first time I managed to take responsibility for my reality. I am alone by choice. Duh.[/note]

One of the assignments from the program was to read the Science Fiction by Colin Wilson: The Mind Parasite.

I bought the book, it was maybe five bucks. And it took me a whole year to read it. I could get through 2-3 pages, and that was that. It was the hardest book I had read thus far. 10-15 new words on every page... It took me 20-30 minutes to get through 2-3 pages. But at some point efforting was replaced by genuine wonder. It was still work, but now it was discovery.

I found out that not many of the people in the program read it. But it counted for 4-5 years of instruction: learning something from fiction, from immersing in fiction, is incredibly effective.

Roy Williams says in today"s Monday Morning Memo, quoting
"Fiction is usually seen as escapist entertainment…But it"s hard to reconcile the escapist theory of fiction with the deep patterns we find in the art of storytelling… Our various fictional worlds are– on the whole– horrorscapes. Fiction may temporarily free us from our troubles, but it does so by ensnaring us in new sets of troubles– in imaginary worlds of struggle and stress and mortal woe… Fiction also seems to be more effective at changing beliefs than nonfiction, which is designed to persuade through argument and evidence. Studies show that when we read nonfiction, we read with our shields up. We are critical and skeptical. But when we are absorbed in a story, we drop our intellectual guard."
– Jonathan Gottschall

Today"s whole memo is to illustrate this idea... that story is real, immersive, and instructive.

I have learned a lot more from fiction than from training, from non-fiction, from coaching. And the cost of it was, of course, a lot lower.

On the other hand, I probably would not have learned that much from novels and maybe even movies had I not also learned distinctions from the more expensive, brainy activities of the other.

I have The Mind Parasites in the members area, and according to my statistics, my people haven"t been reading it.

Back in 1987, my accurate vocabulary measure in English was 700. Today it is 3500... With an accurate 700 vocabulary it was a difficult read. It is harder to read than most non-fiction, but because of the story, it is a lot more effective.

I am going to make a new rule: I won"t take on any new client who doesn"t, at least, attempt to read the book.

You don"t have to be a genius to become a client... if you don"t do what I ask you to do... I probably can"t help you.

Holographic reading: the secret of billionaires...

Holographic learning: the only way to human being level

I am reading a book I don"t like. I was told by Source to read it... and I think I found the one sentence (so far) in the 700 page book that I needed to read. One sentence...

Reading, when it creates a world, a rich world to live in, to accomplish in, is holographic. Each book sharpens some area, fills in the missing or fuzzy details.

This one sentence has been that kind of a sentence. It was like a Flash of lightening.

The sentence was, I am paraphrasing, "I asked Tristan was she happy. and he said, not especially, but he thinks this is due to she is Hungarian and they are not a merry race. And he has a point..." ((The book is Neal Stephenson"s in name... The Rise and fall of DODO, don"t read it.))

Wooohooo

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUCyjDOlnPU

Like a flashlight, my consciousness is now looking for signs/patterns of mood... disposition: merry, gloomy, angry, something I have never considered, never really noticed... as if it didn"t exist.

Suddenly I am noticing. And you know what? It is significant.

Disposition

I binged on a Russian series over the weekend. This guy loves two women. One is a great match for him, the other...

Our guy is a happy person ready for fun... lives like fun. The other woman is gloomy. A perfect match with the gloomy other guy who loves her.

Hm.

I probably lean towards gloomy. But have a capacity for fun. Rowdy fun. Like dancing and joking.

I am going to add vocabulary words to add more color, more shades, more details into my hologram. I am excited. Wow.

Something happened, something opened up for me, because this, mood, disposition is not the only area where I am starting to see more details.

It"s as if someone had raised the level of lighting... opened the shutters...

Exhilarating.

Let"s not jinx it... lol.

Until you have an interconnected, holographic picture of reality that is largely (30%) truthful, all your learning will be unlearning. Correcting. Exchanging myth for truth.

30% is a lot. The best books have 10% truth value or under. The books written by known and renown scientists...

And these books also are fragmented: their authors don"t have that interconnected, holographic picture of reality.

They are like one of my clients who has a tendency to focus in on one thing, and dig. Deep. He is in business, and his mistakes are business mistakes. But the mistakes could be in any area of life.

The skill is to alternate among three modes of looking:

  • looking at the big picture where you can see proportions, contexts. These is seeing the forest.

  • The second way to look is to see the timeline. See the process. To see where things are going. In time.

  • And the third say to look is the shortest amount of time, the thing you are working on. The project.

For example: I was eating New Zealand lamb for a few months. Now my supply has dried up [note]Jet.com won"t deliver fresh groceries to Syracuse NY, darn![/note] and I am forced to eat American Lamb. Since last Wednesday (it is Monday only! Five days![/note] has already killed my gut flora... my probiotics are needed again.

Why? Because American farms, American supermarkets, "generously" feed homegrown lamb with antibiotics, because: guess, they feed them grains which makes them sick... and makes me sick. The label says: organic, grass fed, but it is a lie. Every label in American supermarkets is a lie. Every single one of them.

But without me looking all those three ways at what is happening, without having enough truth and enough details in my holographic picture of food manufacturing in the world and especially in the United States of "let"s make people sick" I would not have checked if I needed probiotics, and would get really sick... fast, and would not know what hit me.

Here is another example: I am watching this TED talk video ((

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stc5MUIloP0

)) on converting desert sand into soil... soil meaning: stuff grows in it. Attempts of turning the deserts of the planet into greed have been around but of all the methods this feels the most effective and most cost-effective.

But the powers that be are not interested.

Scarcity serves their purpose: keeping humanity in victim mode, effect mode, not even thinking of self-determination.

And here is a holographic shift of focus: I go from looking at the planet, that is getting uncomfortably warmer. Now I look at you: your cells are drying out. Your inner "terrain" is getting less and less fertile. You are able to thrive less and less... You live in scarcity, your attention is on yourself, and you have scarcely any attention left to get something done.

Do you see the connection? The same picture, from two different vantage points.

If we add the third, temporality, time, we see that the ones that are not narrowed into their own little limited perspective because they have their cells hydrated, are going to move onto the next century, the next evolutionary phase of humanity.

This is what I am talking about.

If you want to know where you are standing, the 16 different measures of the Starting Point Measurements will set you on the map... where you are and which way you need to go, if you want to become part of the next evolutionary phase of humanity.

And here is an insight from the Russian Netflix series, worth for you to have read this article: when you don"t live like your life is in danger, when you don"t live in scarcity, which is actually an attitude, then you can bring creativity, joy, inventiveness to life.

When you can say: it"s all in a day"s work, and don"t even have to say "honest work", and you can bring caring to your work, it is heaven on earth. I mean it.

But as long as you live in scarcity, as long as you have to look at everything through yourself... your life is hell. Hell on earth. Same exact circumstances... nothing else changed. Just your experience and therefore your actions.

In one paradigm you want to make as much as possible with as little work as possible, in the other, where work is part of life and not a negation of life, you are joyfully investing as much as you got... for who wouldn"t?

I have observed that stingy students, stingy clients, all suffer from the effects of stinginess. Because that is how it is.

One way stinginess shows up is in your integrity measure... in your empowering or disempowering context, and also in your actions... But ultimately there is only one loser: you.

The four core default contexts... or Why I stopped participating in Landmark Education?

the four core enforced by booksActually, I continued to participate in Landmark after the incident I"ll tell you about... but NEVER intended to contribute any more. Or not really. I was participating from hurt... knowing that what was broken cannot be fixed.

18 years ago, as I was coaching someone, it became clear to me that there are this four core invisibles, that are underneath every issue, every distinction, every weird, unethical, unsavory action a human being makes.

Even though the distinction that there is a broadcast going on that everyone hears and everyone tunes into some of it, part of it, the part that feels relevant to what is going on for them.

I remember, it was 1991, and I drove home after the session, and heard the broadcast that sounded like very radio station playing on the same wave length... and yet I could pick out the part that was hand in glove match to what was going on in my life... I was in love with a married man at the time... and everything relevant to that was playing for me.

I drove to New York and confronted my lover... I don"t remember what happened: nothing good, because nothing changed. I was still hooked... for many more years.

But the idea of the broadcast didn"t become the foundation of my teaching until earlier this year... and the magic began.

But I am getting ahead of myself here...

18 years ago, when I was in San Francisco, I already had an insight that was to revolutionize Landmark Education, that was to increase their results for people manyfold.

So I approached a person who was in charge of product development in Landmark, and shared what I taught in my last article.

The response was... "very nice."

No echo. No one there to hear it.

I was crushed, and dumbfounded...

Today I understand what happened, but at that time I didn"t.

Humans really want only one thing: looking good and making it. And, of course, underneath is, making it a must, are the core four: having to, needing to, wanting to, and should.

Check with yourself and see if you can find them: you have to look good. And you have to make it.

And anything that threatens it is either ignored, fought, smeared, killed, but never considered A is A...

The looking good and making it is survival... and comes from the genes.

But the genes are a lot more forgiving than the memes.

I have never seen an animal sitting and blaming themselves... they do that in fairy tales... but not in reality.

In reality, an animal may make a mistake, and look at the result of the mistake as A is A... and do the next best thing.

They don"t have having to... Having to is a meme.

I personally make sure that I don"t have to anything. I don"t have to do, see, feel, fix, hear... anything.

And I am still working on giving you the same privilege... or even giving Landmark leaders the same privilege.

They didn"t have to appreciate my contribution, they didn"t have to even listen. They would have been better off... but "looking good and making it" or having to look good and having to make it interfered.

They could not see it, because they never went deep enough.

You can only do things consistent with what you see... and, listen up! those Landmark people learned their distinctions, they did not invent it, or did not really make them theirs.

The Nobel Prize winning famous physicist, in an interview with Werner, complained that the applicants for graduate studies with this physicist, Feinstein, did not invent physics like he did.

I watched this with artists. I watched this with philosophy students. I watched this with architects. I watched this with energy practitioners. and... the areas of knowledge are endless.

Truth repeated is a lie. It"s like being a parent to a child borne by someone else. The child is both yours and not yours.

You"ll never get the whole of the foundation of becoming a human being, unless you get at least one thing you can give birth to.

I have one (1) student who is doing the work, and is making the distinctions his.

He is not the most educated, not the smartest, but the most changeable, the most willing to experiment.

Darwin said, in his "The origin of species" from 1859, that the species that survives is the one that is most adaptable.

Adaptable means changeable. Adaptable means: molding oneself to match the new requirements.

You can go on a hunt to find what you are unwilling to give up. What you are unwilling to negotiate. What you are unwilling to make malleable. What you are right about.

You"ll find many. And when you look, there is a "must be looking good and making it" underneath it.

You get instructions from a teacher you hired... but you"ll tweak it until it can"t work, won"t work but you"ll be right.

Or you"ll meekly accept, but refuse to look deeper. Or you argue. Or... many many ways you can be off the strait and narrow...

I can see the snow covered trees from where I sit, and watch, in amazement, the squirrel that runs on the underside of the branch where there is no snow.

The squirrel looks at the world and the snow and life as A is A.

If I suggested to you that you can do something like that in your life, you would have reasons not to do it. Because to you A is not A... A is what it should be for you to do what I asked you to do.

All to buy the right to remain the same.

To continue to live in quiet desperation. Powerless. Unaware that you are the cause. Ultimately.

Here is what I wrote to a student, just now...
I just wrote two articles, but actually proofreading and preparing it to be published takes time.

But they are a direct answer to your questions.

Your daughter is eating NOT according to her type... or she would not be sick.

The main job is to remove have to, need to, want to, and should... and turning all of them to "I get to..." a privilege.

I remember when I looked at life like that... especially on vacations... life was an adventure. I even got to go to school at any age: I loved going to school. I dreamed about moving into the school... how it felt when I was the only person. How it felt not having a shower, and yet being at home.

And I have the same relationship with my diet: I get to eat the stuff I get to eat...

I just did what I ask people to do... caught the mood the have to"s create, and changed the wording to "I get to".

It feels weird to have a glimmer, the stars in my eyes after so many decades of sadness and slavery.

Your life is like a boat on sea... Where it"s going is given by the drift 96%

Every learning is becoming. Every action that is aimed at learning but doesn"t lead to becoming... is not learning, it is just a pretense. Treading water. The drift.

But becoming is not easy, and it takes longer than you would expect. OK, longer than I expect. Longer than I have been expecting... :-(

Why? because some of the learning requires you to be "right there", ready for that particular learning. You first need to become ready. One of these learning/becoming steps, (inside my 67 steps coaching program,) is mentoring. Mentoring means spending time learning from people who are 20-30 years ahead of you in what you want to become trained in, in your chosen area of becoming. [note]Why becoming? In the "how you do anything is how you do everything, the how refers to your consciousness. Unless your consciousness changes, your results won"t change. Some current how"s: meek, inconsistent, powerless, pretentious, forceful, hurried, thoughtless, not complete, not thorough, ungenerous, etc. You see that doing things, even different things with the same consciousness will not produce the kind of results you want... I hope you see that.

Werner points out in one of his videos that his attitude in ANY conversation is, that he already knows. That is the opposite of humility and teachability.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJsSZHfnM6M

[/note]

The way to be with these people, these mentors is based on humility. Unless you are humble, you"ll pick and choose what you accept and what you reject, what you"ll take and what you will not.

It"s like swimming against a strong current... swimming upstream

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjS3eSNuX_c

Your results will predictably be between null and a little bit. But the whole power of the mentoring process will be wasted on you.

Until you become humble, until you become like a sponge, until you listen closely and then go and implement what you heard, you are not in mentorship... And honestly, no mentor would want to spend time with you.

Now, becoming humble is difficult. Becoming humble feels counter-intuitive. Becoming humble feels dangerous.

And unless you are able to do dangerous things, you won"t do it.

Of course what is intuitive is not true 90% of the time. Most of what"s intuitive will actually work against your best interest because intuition comes from the selfish gene...

People who are willing to take the risk it takes to become humble are happier for it. Respected for it.

This whole thinking is coming from my own experience.

You see, there are levels to everything. And even though I have been reading 2-3-4 books a week, [note]cover to cover, not like Tai, even though I don"t argue with the books,[/note] I haven"t much had the experience of being with the 33% above me while reading.

I am talking about Tai"s principle of spending 33% of your time with people who are 20-30 years ahead of you.

Today I spent a lot of time with Werner Erhard. Not personally, mind you, through audios and videos. But regardless I"ve come away with something I hadn"t known: how you know you are with someone 20-30 years ahead of you is that you can hardly follow them... they are really ahead of you.

You know you are with someone 20-30 years ahead of you is that you can barely follow them

Is it pleasant? No, not really. But unless you do this, unless you work on understanding what is hard to understand, you cannot be growing.

You definitely need humility to stay with it, to trust that you won"t waste your time and that it is taking you someplace you cannot go on your own.

When you declare yourself incompetent, which is how I learned to be humble, you often discover that indeed you are.

But as Aristotle says: the sign of an educated person is to be able to hold two contrary thoughts, or verbatim: It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.

So being incompetent and barely understanding what someone 20-30 years ahead of you says doesn"t mean you are stupid... in some areas maybe you could teach them... But not inside their expertise.

The second part of the challenge is to go out and implement.

Hardly anyone implements anything faithfully... ever.I learned about the drift today from Werner. The drift where you can claim the results, but you are lying.

I learned about the drift today from Werner. The drift where you can claim the results, but you are lying.

I learned about the drift today from Werner. The drift where you often claim the results, but you are lying.

I learned about impacting the drift... I learned that only action impacts the drift. And when you impact the drift, that action also opens you up to being yourself different... this is how you are becoming. Through action. Action is first... becoming is second. [note]When you are waiting to become someone eager to learn, or become curious, or to feel like doing something, you are putting the cart in front of the horse[/note]

Knowing more, even recognizing more, makes little difference... only actions that come from knowing more, and recognizing more make a difference. Both in the world and in you. [note]There is an element I am not talking about here, but may be at the root of action: seeing...[/note]

There is a fallacy that you can control the results. Reality doesn"t work that way. You can control your actions, pick actions that may have a chance to impact the results, but that is the best you can do.

What you can control is the drift.

I work on several key areas of my life, health, the social, money, and fulfillment.

And unless I get better and faster and more courageous in all these areas, the actions I take will be insignificant, slow, or impact-less.

Lastly: what is the drift? The drift is what you see happening when life is left to itself...

Life includes other people... society, your family.

Left alone, without drift-altering actions from you, life goes in its predictable way.
  • You"ll just eat what you have always eaten, even after you find out what is good for you, what is bad for you. what nutrients your diet doesn"t supply.

  • You"ll behave like you have always behaved... you"ll be all about you, you"ll be all about your comfort, your survival, your entertainment, your self-righteousness.

  • Your self-expression will be the expression of the lower self...

and so on, and so forth.

The drift is what we could also call the "default".

Most people"s life is 99.99% drift with occasional episodes of coming up for air. You have moments of brilliance...

You impact your life through impacting the drift. And the drift is strong... and you are weak. Weak in every sense of the word.

In the Starting Point Measurements I measure some of the elements that predict to what degree you are willing and able to impact the drift... i.e. change yourself and change your life. Become someone more deserving so you can deserve a life worth living.

The starting point measurements don"t measure whether you are a good person or a bad person. Both are part of the drift... your goodness, your badness. Your honesty. Your whole behavior. Even what you want. And how you go about getting it.

Part of the drift.

Being someone who can impact the drift is simple, but very hard.

Many people design structures inside which, they hope, they can impact the drift.

Goalsetting is a drift-impacting move... but even if you combine it with affirmations, it doesn"t impact your drift inside... so it won"t impact the drift.

Taking care of that world inside you, impacting the inside drift is harder than impacting the drift outside.

Everyone can accomplish a goal and not change... remain the same old, same old.

A good coach"s job is to attend to the inside... because changing the outside glitters but is pretty worthless.

The number of rich wretched people should be proof of that.

My "specialty" is that I feel when you return to the drift before you yourself realize it.

I am also observing that same thing on myself.

One element of the drift is your "ground of being", your fundamental attitude.

For the past weeks, I have been observing the drift wanting to take over MY ground of being.

The most frequent ground of being in the world is "something is wrong here... something with me, something with you, something with it"...

That ground of being is what gives you your actions, your feelings, your overall relationship with life. The sense that there is something wrong and it needs to be fixed. In a hurry.

What you"ll call wrong varies. It depends, a lot, on your soul correction.

By the way, your soul correction is your "inner drift"... your inner default relationship to yourself, to others, to life.

Now, what if you have been doing a lot, and yet you are still solidly anchored in the drift? You are not changing, your view of life isn"t changing, you don"t feel better about yourself, your life isn"t moving... or is moving to where it has always moved, and you don"t want it to go there?

I have found that the Bach Profile, me measuring what Bach Energies® dominate your inner drift, is very useful in finding the linchpin Bach Flower Energy that if targeted, you can produce a big result because this energy keeps the others also in place

I need to intuit what is the linchpin behavior... and then muscle test if I feel it right.

bach flower remedy bottlesExample: This is an actual person"s Bach profile: if your need for order, cleanliness, (Crab Apple) things being just so, done just so, everyone behaving as they ought to, but - of course - they don"t, you get forceful and self-righteous and domineering... (Vine)... But there is a profound inauthenticity underneath: you yourself don"t live according to your own rules and standards. (Beech) You become impatient, overwhelmed, and ultimately either dutiful, depressed, or both.

Finding the linchpin in this picture was not easy... it was not obvious what inner behavior, if it were pulled out, would set the rest of the inner behavior back to normal.

In this particular Bach profile, muscle test says, it is the "dutiful, carrying the world on your shoulder attitude" that holds the whole wretched picture together. That is the anchor to the drift.

So I advised the person that changing their attitude to doing things to joyful, or "I get to do this" instead of "I have to do this" will collapse the whole structure of misery, and impact the drift... And doing that consistently... it is not an event... like a moment of brilliance, a flash in the pan... We have too many of those. Fireworks, miserable existence.

But knowing that the drift sets in the moment you stop generating your inner attitude, is priceless.
