Should you become a client? Would I even accept you as a client?

For decades one of my sore spots was that people refused to serve me, even though I paid them.

I remember saying to myself: my money is not good enough for you? and wept.

I had no idea how I "accomplished" that... in 20/20 hindsight it is still a little spotty.

What wasn"t clear to me, never even occurred to me, how my attitude effected the service provider. My "To what degree you think of yourself:" starting point measure was, at the time, 70%. From my behavior I would have guessed it was higher.

Mainly I overrode what they said. I argued, I knew better, I acted with contempt...

What I didn"t know then is that being a service provider needs to be a win, or no service.

A customer who is not happy is a drag on an provider, and not worth the little (or even a lot of) money they pay.

I was that kind of customer...

By 1987 I started to see more of the invisible dynamic that was running my life, that kept me an angry victim, that made me feel entitled, etc.

With that my vibration rose, even without getting fully conscious and aware of how I used to be, my attitude changed, and life got better for me. Because no man is an island, and I did need help.

One of the most important criteria, it seems, is whether the provider is allowed to make a difference or not.

One of my measurements in the Starting Point Measurements [note]1. your vibration (1-1000):
2. your overall intelligence, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, body, relationship, etc.:
3. the number of spiritual capacities you have:
4. your soul correction (your machine): https://www.yourvibration.com/sc
5. do you have attachments?
6. the level of your health (1-100):
7. the level of your cell hydration (1-100):
8. your relationship to feedback and instruction:
9. The level of discomfort you are willing to allow w/o trying to fix it. This is your TLB score...
10. The size of your vocabulary: the number of words you can use accurately:
11. To what degree you think of yourself:
12. # of fixed mindset:
13. Ambition:
14. Desire:
15. Degree of inauthenticity overall:
16. Level of integrity 1-100:
17. how enslaved are you to memes? (what percentage of your life is run by memes?)
18. do you have a bridge between your precious "I" and your actual I? your level of delusion
19. Recommendations:

[/note] is your response, your attitude regarding feedback and instruction. I used to answer that with the category from a book I read: "smart, foolish, evil" but I abandoned that categorization: I didn"t like what I was getting.

I became more interested in what someone does when they don"t like the instruction or the feedback. A lot of people, after the initial emotional state, come back and do what they are asked to do...

If I can tell them: read this book and without justification, without explanation, they go and read it. They may feel reluctant, resistant, angry, but because I asked them they say: OK and do it.

In 1987, green and still with a huge attitude, I signed up a year long training program: Team, Management, Leadership. Why? I didn"t have any reason, I just liked to get trained.

Four of the five weekends of the of the course were in California. I remember sitting at the airports by myself: I was a lone ranger... unaware that my loneliness was a result of my own attitude... [note]That became conscious for me only some 20 years later, when I created a collage to deal with this seeming reality: I am alone. I wrote about it, I think, in another post. The top picture. (the bear on one side, on the top of a tree, and the multitude of penguins, and people, on the other side) is the collage that allowed me to see. And for the first time I managed to take responsibility for my reality. I am alone by choice. Duh.[/note]

One of the assignments from the program was to read the Science Fiction by Colin Wilson: The Mind Parasite.

I bought the book, it was maybe five bucks. And it took me a whole year to read it. I could get through 2-3 pages, and that was that. It was the hardest book I had read thus far. 10-15 new words on every page... It took me 20-30 minutes to get through 2-3 pages. But at some point efforting was replaced by genuine wonder. It was still work, but now it was discovery.

I found out that not many of the people in the program read it. But it counted for 4-5 years of instruction: learning something from fiction, from immersing in fiction, is incredibly effective.

Roy Williams says in today"s Monday Morning Memo, quoting
"Fiction is usually seen as escapist entertainment…But it"s hard to reconcile the escapist theory of fiction with the deep patterns we find in the art of storytelling… Our various fictional worlds are– on the whole– horrorscapes. Fiction may temporarily free us from our troubles, but it does so by ensnaring us in new sets of troubles– in imaginary worlds of struggle and stress and mortal woe… Fiction also seems to be more effective at changing beliefs than nonfiction, which is designed to persuade through argument and evidence. Studies show that when we read nonfiction, we read with our shields up. We are critical and skeptical. But when we are absorbed in a story, we drop our intellectual guard."
– Jonathan Gottschall

Today"s whole memo is to illustrate this idea... that story is real, immersive, and instructive.

I have learned a lot more from fiction than from training, from non-fiction, from coaching. And the cost of it was, of course, a lot lower.

On the other hand, I probably would not have learned that much from novels and maybe even movies had I not also learned distinctions from the more expensive, brainy activities of the other.

I have The Mind Parasites in the members area, and according to my statistics, my people haven"t been reading it.

Back in 1987, my accurate vocabulary measure in English was 700. Today it is 3500... With an accurate 700 vocabulary it was a difficult read. It is harder to read than most non-fiction, but because of the story, it is a lot more effective.

I am going to make a new rule: I won"t take on any new client who doesn"t, at least, attempt to read the book.

You don"t have to be a genius to become a client... if you don"t do what I ask you to do... I probably can"t help you.

Make your plane go where you want it to go... or what one thing you want to learn from Babe Ruth

Make your plane go where you want it to go...

This is probably the most shocking sentence in the whole 67 step program.

I literally don"t know anyone who lives that way.

People try to succeed, try a diet, try this and try that... while their plane crashes in every area.

So what is the difference between who are like that, who are on their way to become that kind of person, and others who never ever land their plane on the landing strip?

One is: attitude. You either have the results or the reasons why you don"t have the results... another one is DNA capacities...

((One huge missing capacity: courage is making you not even declare to what end, what result you really want to achieve. Because if you don"t say it, then you cannot fail. But you cannot land your plane on a non-specific air strip.

The hallmark of a of courage deficiency is to spout some generalities. Tai Lopez"s purpose: spreading good ideas through mass media is a generality... showing that he is a cowardly lion...

Because he is afraid to ask and then declare: to what end?

What end would make you feel good about yourself at the end of life?
  • I did all I could do to become the person I could become?

  • To have made a lot of money?

  • To have had my house clean at all times?

  • Look and see...

If you can"t see anything then come, join the 67 coaching program and I"ll help you see the end of the tunnel...

If you don"t have an end in mind then you"ll never accomplish anything worthwhile, and you"ll be like floating storksh*t... without your own motive power, lifted and lowered by the air. This is a Hungarian saying, by the way.))

But there is a lot more to it that no one seems to talk about:

The more distinctions you have, the more astute you become, the more power you have to land your plane where you want to land it (in health, wealth, love and happiness) and the more fun life becomes

Distinction is a fancy name for a frame. A frame through which you can look at life. In every frame life shows up differently.

I teach distinctions, aka frames. That is the secret sauce of my teaching.

The only thing people resist is looking at the puny number of frames they have... The 2-3-4 frames. That they can only look 2-3-4 ways, and then their life is therefore impoverished.

The more frames you have the better life can work. With 2-3-4 frames you come up short in most situations.

I have more distinctions in some pillars of life than in others.

My weakest pillar is social. I have had the least amount of success there. So it seems that I am doubling my efforts in this area nowadays.

  • Learning distinctions from others is good... maybe.

  • Learning distinctions from movies is good... maybe.

  • But ultimately the way to learn a distinction is to use the frame through with you see what the frame says... and most people are just goddamn lazy... or superior... or can"t see.

Some people can"t learn distinctions, no matter what method you offer to them: they are locked into their 2-3-4 frames.

OK... let me say that different: some people won"t learn any more distinctions. Why? My new favorite expression is the cause: theory induced blindness... we could also say, meme induced blindness. [note]It is always the past that gets into your eyes... as one of the Peanuts said. Being right about your past, that you are a victim, that you were mistreated seems to excuse you from having a great life, from having to put out, earn a living, accomplish, etc.[/note]

These two are essentially the same: a theory is also a meme. If you don"t look at it as a theory... but the truth.

So I am learning new distinctions in social interactions. It is the hardest thing I have ever done. Harder than mathematics... lol. Or figure drawing. Or even finding a diet that works for me.

Why is learning new distinctions hard? Because of all the stuff that is there.

I have been taking certain things personally. Getting out of my own way, getting out of the frame "this is personal" has been hard. But today I managed to turn some corners.

I managed to look at what is happening in the community van, which is my experimental lab for social.

One of the steady companions there is a guy who is a radio jock, music, and we have a few months history of butting heads.

In social interactions, it seems, safety, being appreciated or liked, being heard seem to be important on one hand, self-protection, exerting power over others, punishing, expression immediate language, aka emotional response... on the other.

This dude is a perfect training partner. Not because he wants to learn, but because he can demonstrate stuff... so I can learn... "oh, that is how it works? hm. interesting."

I am getting more skilled, I am getting to look at things through more distinctions than before... as they are happening. I even had 3 moments of joy today!

When someone blows up at me, I don"t take it personally, I look at what need it serves for them.

With what I am learning now, I can also go back to my family dynamics 50-60-nearly 70 years ago, and see what was going on then in a whole new light.

It is clear that I took everything personally. It is also clear that I looked at every moment as if it was going to remain the same forever. So I sulked, I hid, I felt angry, hurt, diminished, invalidated, etc. for a long time at a clip.

From that frame my mother"s behavior looked strange: she was the type of person who would flare up, hit, scream, kick, and then when done, totally forget what she had done. Never even considered that she left dead bodies in the wake of her storm.

My brothers took everything personally, and became permanently offended, and cut communications to protect themselves from being exposed again to whatever seemed harmful at the time. They still behave the exact same way. Offended is their semi-permanent state.

My father was more stoic. He looked at everything through the longer view, and his mood was a lot stabler.

The more distinctions I can look through, the more frames are available to me, in practicality, the more enjoyable my social interactions will become. [note]The same is true in business, the same is true in health...[/note]

Not yet. They are more, they are more frequent, but not yet enjoyable. Less traumatic. But I still end up with muscle tension, near unbearable tiredness, and difficulty to breathe after every interaction. Even if it is a webinar...

All my projects are long term. Nothing wrong, nothing to fix...

I am learning to land my plane on the landing strip even in a storm... I make the plane go where I want it to go.

As long as I have said and declared the landing strip precisely...

It"s the hardest thing EVER... but you must go for it, you must summon courage... And you can always change it... as soon as you find out that it"s not what you really wanted.

What is appreciation? Is it limited to what you like?

What do I like about leading webinars?

Unlike other people, I don"t speak from what I know, I don"t speak from my mind.

Why this is something to like? Because every time I speak I surprise myself. I listen to what I am saying, and I am amazed, and often confronted.

Today the concept of appreciation was discussed: that "culture" makes you believe that appreciation is talking about things you like... but it is a lie.

Just like in mathematics every number has a value, zero, five, minus 15.

Appreciation is simply giving something a matching value.

Wideheld belief: you should already know... or that you should have to work for knowledge

Have you ever noticed that if a character in a movie or on a TV show is a good actor, you can bet that the person is from another country.

In the United States and Canada there is a wideheld belief that you should already know. That learning something is for other people, who don"t already know, and if you admitted that you need to learn something, it is akin you admitting of being an imbecile, or a lower type of person.

Now, in some rare cases people decide to learn something, and they go as far as getting an understanding, a surface understanding, and then they stop. I already know.

I don"t know of a profession that can be done well with no knowledge, but I can tell you, spiritual growth, causing your own evolution isn"t one of them: it takes more work than getting a Ph.D. and you can"t copy your paper from another... you actually have to do your own work.

If you every want to unhinge yourself from this commonly held detrimental belief, obviously Dark Side suggestion, you need to take pride in doing the work, and doing it.

The anatomy of missing the mark

Have you been wondering why public services and big companies employ semi-morons for customer service?

I am, I think, supposed to mention this, given how many times it has happened in the past week.

Not every customer service person acts stupid, only most of them.

So what is their stupidity about? They only hear what they know. The filter of their mind screens out everything that is not the three-four basic issues: refund request, payment plan request, return request... you know the kind most people will have.

For every issue outside of the ones that the solution is standardized, the customer rep can"t hear...

The mind did not allow the person to interact with reality, only with what"s in the mind.

An example of how to access your power if your vibration is under 200

I have a favorite actor. Simon Baker, from The Guardian and from The Mentalist.

Before I sat down to write this post, I looked what it is that I like about him. And I found two things about him that make me want to be around him:

He is never in a hurry. He is not tense, he is not forceful, even when his life is threatened. I can feel the automatic muscle tension leave as he quickly returns to coherence, the only state where you can be effective and efficient in your next step, whether it is picking the lock of a handcuff, seeing the invisible to other details, or winning a hand in poker.

He uses context the best way invented context can be used to cause an immediate shift in his attitude.
