The Pleasure Principle and winning in life

Psychology, as a science and as a practice has some tools: Observation and brain scans.

But the problem with either is that the human element, the interpreter between what is being seen, their mindset, their attitude, their approach, is crucial.

But, of course, this is true everywhere, except with psychologists, we expect them to interpret what they observe accurately... except they don"t. As a rule.

And then there are some outliers... like Freud.

I am observing myself, and I am observing my students.

And I am getting clearer and clearer, that The Pleasure Principle is indeed one that has to be taken seriously.

Can you feel energy? I mean you, personally... Different energies?

When I put the word "energy" into the search box on google, most listings are about electricity, and the rest are about woo woo sites.

People still don"t understand energy. Why? Because our receptors for energy are not differentiated enough, and not connected to the conscious mind enough for us to have more words... and without words there is no understanding. ((Some people, example are the crime lab in Criminal Minds, have machines to connect between energy and our senses... spectrometer (an apparatus used for recording and measuring spectra, especially as a method of analysis.) where spectra/spectrum means: a band of colors, as seen in a rainbow, produced by separation of the components of light by their different degrees of refraction according to wavelength. Here, energy is translated to what the human mind can perceive and demonstrate: colors of light... But everything is spectrum, i.e. energy, measurable, and precise))

I have always been weather sensitive. You know those insufferable people that know what weather is coming, where the wind is coming from, the pressure and the magnetism, and don"t stop talking about it.

I didn"t talk about it, but that"s it. The rest has always been true to me. I"ve felt it, I"ve known it. Insufferable for myself... lol.

And I paid attention, so I wasn"t merely an "I am suffering" type of insufferable, suffering from the bad feelings that others could not believe I was feeling.

If I can feel it, you can feel it, but you have no distinctions, the building blocks of perceived reality, and I do.

Inner peace... is it possible for you?

Inner Peace is elusive, like health.
What do you call peace? The lack of war? What do you call health? Lack of illness?

Imagine that you are walking in a forest, on a footpath on a beautiful summer day. The birds are chirping. There is a slight breeze. There is peace. And you may know that animals are hunting, eating another, and yet there is peace.

It seems that peace is when you are OK with how it is, good, bad, ugly, you are OK. When a ball comes your way: you catch it. When a branch blocks your way, you bend it away. When there is a climb in the path, you climb. When a stone gets in your shoe, you shake it out. No resistance. Life is good.

What gives it away is the implied inevitability. The language. That it"s always, or never.

Like I am never going to be successful. Stings. Hurts. My eyes are watering. I scramble to avoid it, fight mightily, only to give up after a while and resign... burn, and get up from the ashes like a phoenix bird... This has been the story of my life. Horrid.

Now, imagine free falling towards the Earth, accelerating. Your language, I guess: I am going to die. I am going to be pulped by the impact.

Imagined it? Now imagine that I order you to pay attention to the weather, to the shape of the clouds in the sky.

Can Karma put a cord or attachment on you?

If you believe in Karma

Karma (in Hinduism and Buddhism: the sum of a person"s actions in this and previous states of existence, viewed as deciding their fate in future existences.) is an action that, according to Indian philosophy, needs to be countered with another action.

There is good karma and there is bad karma.

Karma is a method to imprison you. Imprison? Yeah... Truth be told: A good action doesn"t balance a bad one, and no matter what you do, a bad action is a bad action. Done. Over. Next.

Karma acts on you like an energetic attachment. Not the action, no. The belief of karma energetically attaches yourself, anchors you and leaches your aliveness.

Karma is a lot like the national debt: it cannot be worked off, paid off, by design. You are always in debt, and that"s that.

This whole inquiry started from a recent insight I had: that people from India or Pakistan, originally or still live there, have disproportionately more attachments than "normal" people with different belief system.

What creates the attachment? It is a strong emotional connection, in Karma"s case.
