Can you get and keep a new worldview from a chemical? Recover from depression?

You should consider reading the novel, Flowers for Algernon, by Daniel Keyes

Not the movie, the book.

Why, you would ask... Because it shows you what happens when you get to unearned heights.

In the book, Charlie undergoes an operation that makes his brain perform at beyond genius level... only to go back to become mentally handicapped... again.

Because a living being is an organism, you really cannot gift it a higher level than the whole organism. It cannot carry the weight... and it collapses to where it was before the "gifting" or below.

Do I know this? Somehow I know it. How? I feel it. After all my access to truth, my access to knowing is feeling: I am an empath. I can"t think it. I am not a thinker... I am a feeler. What I feel I express to you, through thinkable thoughts, and if you can, you"ll think that... Most can only think about, and is unwilling or unable to follow the instruction: think this! Thinking what I ask you to think will be the access for you. Thinking what I said. NOT what you think about what I said... Big distinction.

Most of humanity is tethered [note]tie (an animal) with a rope or chain so as to restrict its movement.[/note] to words...

They don"t feel, don"t see, don"t hear. They don"t even think. They react to words...

The most important sensory organ is sight. Why? I don"t know. But anything you cannot see is not real for you.

So my work with you is to attempt to make you see... see what you haven"t seen, by looking where you haven"t looked, the way you haven"t looked, through distinctions, filters that you didn"t know existed.

Many mornings I start my day doing some foundation work on my website, read some hard articles through turning them into audios.

This morning was special: I listened to an article by a psychologist and didn"t understand a word. It didn"t bother me: I got, for the first time, that I am not a thinker... no problem, I am what I am. Nothing wrong here.

Then I listened to a really long article, 10 thousand words. Long.

The article was by a very popular writer on Medium.com, John Gorman, and his essay on how he went from a lifetime of depression to a life-affirming person in 30 days.

He went on a ketamine regime, administered in a doctor"s office.

ketamine tripKetamine is a narcotic, a hallucinogenic... and he had plenty of trips. 30 hours total.

He, now, mostly feels like a normal person, or maybe better. What did the treatment achieve... at least temporarily?

He got to the place where we plan to get to through my Playground program: where we see, clearly, and can get there in seconds, no matter what is happening, the reality where there is never anything wrong. We aren"t wrong, others aren"t wrong, the world isn"t wrong.

Where we are not in a hurry to get anywhere, get anything, do anything, where we can be at the right place at the right time. Just be. And then do what we"ll do.

A huge accomplishment.

The difference between Gorman and us, is that we work to get there. Diligently... or we won"t get there.

depressed and aloneDepression is a state where you are wrong, they are wrong, it is wrong, and you are never how you should be, who you should be, what you should do... there is a profound wrongness about everything.

So, in essence, in the one year long Playground, (a new course is starting tomorrow) we want to get to where Gorman got in 30 hours tripping. Each trip about an hour long... chemically induced.

The truth value of the long essay is 10%. Is he lying? 30% yes... says Source. His fear is feverish at the end of the article: he is afraid... he is afraid, and rightly so, that it was too easy. That maybe he didn"t earn it.

You can read the article if you want to... it is "click-bait"... answering everyone"s desire for a miracle where good things are happening to you.

The biggest seller in today"s day and age. Hope giving... Deadly.

Once you read it, come back to me and let me know if you saw anything.

The clients and students I have go down that "tunnel" as well.

I have a Playground course student who is, suddenly, buying up my activators, at a tune of 2-3 a week.

At first I muscle tested if he is trying to sell them... but I got a "no" answer.

After reading this article, I can see, that he is hoping for a shortcut. A shortcut to peace of mind, a shortcut to a world where there is nothing wrong...

He doesn"t trust the Playground, I feel, because he hasn"t gotten what he hoped for in the first two months.

One of the things Gorman didn"t have to go through is seeing all the situations, all the incidents, where HE brought all the meanings of wrongness to the incident. Where he was the perpetrator not the victim.

It is a bitter pill to swallow, and takes quite a few months to really own... On the other side of that is a clarity that if you stop being the wrongness to life, life stops being wrong. Hah.. sound simple. It isn"t.

We all want to be right about our misery, we all want to look good, we all want to avoid owning our role in our own life.

That is the hardest jump to make... and it doesn"t come to that, in the Playground, until month nine... when you are ready... when you can hold it. When you can own it.

Roughly half of the students that started in September, are on that level. The ones that aren"t have gone back to do the exercises, this time in earnest, again.

No matter how much you"d like life to have jumps: it doesn"t...

You have to earn your wings to fly.

Feelings, emotions... what should you do with them? or When you have a hammer, you don"t want any other tools...

Most people have one or two tools in their tool box... And what is even stranger: they don"t want any more. Why?

Some of you cannot deal with complexity, and therefore you will deny your right to feel feelings. And some of you will indulge your feelings and never look, never ask any probing questions that could let you see what is really going on...

What am I talking about?

In the Playground program, always starting new groups, we attempt to bring clarity to life, we attempt to reclaim our power over our lives by separating what life seems to be, what seems to be happening in many different ways. One of these is having a "reality" side, everything a Martian could see or detect, and another that is all words.

But where do feelings, emotions fall? They are there, as a component, demanding to take over life, demanding of us to base all our decisions on them. They jerk our chains, and they leave us no sense of self-determination.

So what does the Playground teach about them, how can you look at them so you can have them, and they don"t have you?

After all if you can snap, if you can cut the chains, the puppet strings, then you could have the emotions and still would have YOU, don"t you think?

And this is the goal of the Playground, that you learn to be YOU, even though human culture doesn"t want you to be, human culture, the crab bucket, the chicken coop, wants you to be a puppet on a string.

The goal of the Playground is to get you to "having". Having YOU and the emotions side by side. It doesn"t require you to control the emotions: the emotions are what the emotions are. You are the watcher... You are neither entangled, nor run by them. You don"t deny them. You don"t ignore them completely, you look at them when you have the moment to spare.

One of my students is a full blown empath. ((An interesting tidbit: empaths are not empathic, and sensitives are not sensitive. Both of those, empathic or empathetic and sensitive are beings... and it is hard for someone who feels others emotions to get into that beingness... interesting, right?)) Being an empath myself, I know that an unconscious empath IS a drama queen, out of control drama queen.

The feelings/emotions of others come uninvited, and have no connection to anything going on. The mind, the diligent "meaning making machine" will explain why you SHOULD feel what you are feeling, and thus jerk your chain.

So I taught him to ask the question: do I have a reason to feel this way? And 99% of the time, the answer is no.

Now, this question isn"t only for empaths.

You can ask the same question, and when you do, you"ll see something interesting.

The question will bring up a possible interpretation of reality, an interpretation of words other said, that, you will see, are automatic and senseless...

The other possible thing that the question will bring up is that indeed you have a reason to feel the way you feel: you are doing something wrong, you are heading the wrong way in life, and it is incumbent upon you to change directions.

There are some simple feelings that even animals feel, and they are guiding, directing feelings. Anger, sadness, pain, certain desires, etc.

Sadness is caused by a sense of loss... And you will feel a sense of loss with some regularity. Why? Because every time you do something, you are not doing something else, that is now lost to you. Every time. So the sadness accumulates, and then breaks through your threshold, and then you feel it.

You, occasionally, will know what losses you have accumulated. Suppressing the feeling, or reacting to it by eating, sexing, gaming, TV is silly: you are suppressing something that teaches you to know what is important to you, what you value but not honor. ((by the way, envy has a chance to signal the exact same thing for you... what you want but are unwilling to work towards...))

You dishonor many things, many people, things/people you say you value, things and people that you shortchange, give lip-service to, but no action.

The sadness is completely and totally justified. To fully benefit from the lesson, you need to be willing to own who you are being, who you have been being... and that is not easy.

Mostly you have been stingy, or self-indulgent, or cowardly, or lazy, or belligerent, or punishing, or hateful... and to look that in the eye is hard.

My hunch is that this is the reason not many people want to be my student: I will ask you to tell the truth about who you have been being: hold your feet to the fire.

So what do you do with the feeling? Mostly you try to escape it... where to? Pleasure, or just as often, into utter misery.

When you claim that you are depressed, you are telling me you are escaping the sadness, because you don"t want to know the truth about yourself.

Carl Jung said, supposedly, The foundation of all mental illness is the unwillingness to experience legitimate suffering.

Depression, anxiety, addictions, borderline (self harming belongs here) are mental illnesses in this regard.

They are symptoms. Suppressing them, masking them, ignoring them, is the favorite ways of medicine... whether you are self-medicating, or were given suppressing/masking chemicals by a practitioner of the jailers of the human spirit. ((

A Jungian Approach to Mental Illness

By: John Betts))

All of us suffer from some form of emotional distress at some stage. Some forms of distress can last longer than they should and may significantly impair our everyday functioning. If this persists, we may be suffering from a mental illness or mental disorder (like depression, or anxiety). We can better understand this by comparing a mental illness such as depression, with a case of the flu – it pervades our daily life with painful symptoms.

The traditional medical approach to mental disorder is that the symptoms need to be eliminated as soon as possible, then the neurochemistry of the brain needs to be altered to stop the mental illness. Well that sounds reasonable enough doesn"t it? The problem is that traditional medicine does not seem to be able to deal with the wide variety of mental issues we face, nor are they able to keep people symptom-free. There seems to be something more to this problem.

The Jungian approach to mental disorders is quite different to traditional medicine. Carl Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist and founder of Analytical Psychology, believed that when we suffer a mental disorder, the psyche (the mind and the body) are trying to work through some issue.

The nature and symptoms of the mental disorder tell us a great deal about the nature of the suffering. What distinguishes the Jungian approach to this problem is that Jung felt that the elimination of the symptoms prevents insight into the reason for the illness in the first place – i.e. the mental disorder is purposive, functional and wellness-oriented – the psyche is trying to heal itself through this illness.

Let’s think about flu again – the symptoms of flu are unpleasant but they are purposive and functional. The body raises its temperature (a fever) when it detects the flu virus in an attempt to kill it (viruses can’t stand high body temperature). The runny nose and headache are also attempts at eliminating the virus. We feel tired because our body is involved in emergency work, using energy over and above our normal needs. The symptoms are clearly functional and an attempt at healing. Why not view mental disorders in the same way?

Let’s take depression – we feel tired, don’t want to speak to anyone, shut ourselves away in a dark room, switch off the TV, stop working and feel hopeless. These are all terrible symptoms, but what are the symptoms making us do? They make us think about ourselves and examine issues in our lives that we may be ignoring (say for example a difficult time in childhood). When we address these issues, we often find that the symptoms reduce. This is by no means a complete overview of mental disorders or of the Jungian approach, but it does give you a sense that sometime a long-lasting emotional upheaval has a purpose. Ideally, we should contact a Jungian Analyst and talk through some of these issues and make up our own minds.

John Betts is a Diploma Candidate in the Jungian Analysis training programme in Zurich, Switzerland. He has a private practice in Victoria, BC, Canada. He may be reached through his website at www.jungian-analyst.ca))

So are the traps Margoczi talks about in his Feelings book. 8. FEELING TRAPS
8.1 The desire trap
8.2 The tension trap
8.3 The fear trap
8.4 The game trap
8.5 The pain trap

If you haven"t read that book, it is invaluable, even though its truth value is only 30%... meaning: 70% is inaccurate. But compared with psychology"s take on humans, it is twice as accurate... so... make your own deductions.

I can only tell you, it opened my eyes to a different way of looking at humans... a somewhat mechanical model, of course, given that Margoczi is an engineer. But it contains 70% of what is not covered in official psychology and psychiatry, the main stream, and 90% of what is not covered in alternative methods... ugh... that makes me want to throw up.

Carl Jung truth value: 30%
Freud truth value: 30%
Landmark Education truth value: 20%
Werner Erhard truth value: 30%
Peak Potentials truth value: 10%
Abraham/Hicks truth value: 7%

All feeling traps are best considered a mental illness, the way Jung looks at mental illness: a symptom that you are not looking at something, you are unwilling to own something about yourself.

Let"s see what is the issue you are not willing to face in the desire trap? What are you covering up?

It is fairly obvious: wanting something without working for it. It is a value issue...

According to Robert Hartman, there is a certain order, a hierarchy, in which all values exist and looked at in the highest level a person can be: I call it human being.

Warning: I am looking at emotions, feelings, feeling traps from a completely different point of view, the point of view of being in alignment or not with values. the Playground point of view is about reality, a whole different look at the same thing.

Things can reveal themselves fully only when you have enough different ways to look at them... this is, by the way, why psychology, the "science" has such low truth value: they have a hammer and everything looks like a nail.

Inside the Playground method the desire trap won"t show its face... The Playground method is also a hammer.

The value science method is also a hammer.

Carl Jung"s method, Freud"s method... Landmark... a hammer, treating everything like a nail.

When you study with me, I teach you all the hammers I have learned about and am able to use.

In the Desire Trap having is valued higher than the need to provide value in exchange for the rewards. The cart is put in front of the horse.

A certain unwillingness to produce value.

In the Starting Point Measurements your ambition number shows how much you are willing to do, and your desire number shows how much you want without having to work for it. Experiences, mainly. Experience yourself well, worthy, significant, knowledgeable, wise, good, useful, needed, whatever you personally value as an experience.

That high desire number will keep you stuck unless you deal with it, and keep it under close surveillance so you can catch when you get caught in it... again.

Here are a few Jung quotes that say more than I have said:

Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves. Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darknesses of other people. Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate. Every form of addiction is bad, no matter whether the narcotic be alcohol, morphine or idealism. People will do anything, no matter how absurd, to avoid facing their own souls. There"s no coming to consciousness without pain.

The most terrifying thing is to accept oneself completely.

There are more than 200 quotes from Jung... all fantastic, and no matter what you are dealing with, going over them, pondering them, you"ll find something that can set you free.

OK, here are two more quotes:

The acceptance of oneself is the essence of the whole moral problem and the epitome of a whole outlook on life. That I feed the hungry, that I forgive an insult, that I love my enemy in the name of Christ -- all these are undoubtedly great virtues. What I do unto the least of my brethren, that I do unto Christ. But what if I should discover that the least among them all, the poorest of all the beggars, the most impudent of all the offenders, the very enemy himself -- that these are within me, and that I myself stand in need of the alms of my own kindness -- that I myself am the enemy who must be loved -- what then? As a rule, the Christian"s attitude is then reversed; there is no longer any question of love or long-suffering; we say to the brother within us "Raca," and condemn and rage against ourselves. We hide it from the world; we refuse to admit ever having met this least among the lowly in ourselves.

and this, for you parents:

If there is anything that we wish to change in the child, we should first examine it and see whether it is not something that could better be changed in ourselves.

Oh, and here is my favorite: When you are up against a wall, put down roots like a tree, until clarity comes from deeper sources to see over that wall and grow.

Brain Fog and depression... what"s the connection?

Is brain fog the same as depression, or is depression associated with brain fog?

My assertion is that if you treat the brain fog, you also treat the depression.

Their overlap is 90%. And because brain fog is not emotional but all physical, the approach to treat it is all physical.

The human body is complicated. Not complex... Complex is still penetrable with the human mind, or with artificial brains. No. It"s complicated... not penetrable.

What different foods, different chemicals, different gut flora do and how they interact is complicated.

Trying to understand it is impossible. Not near impossible: it is impossible. Explaining, finding cures or fixes to symptoms is impractical and ineffective, and yet, this is the level of medicine and science... explaining, finding cures for symptoms, finding fixes to symptoms. Ugh.

So what can you do?

Simplify. That is what you can do...

When something is complicated, simplification is always a good step towards a solution. "Everything should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler." When you make it simpler your "premise" is false.

There are a few things we know. From observation. Not many things, but definitely a few things.
  • 1. If your cells are dehydrated, you"ll feel stupid, sluggish, and perform poorly in the world

  • 2. If you don"t sleep right, you"ll be tired, sluggish, brain fog, and often depression follows

  • 3. If you don"t poop you"ll feel off, foggy, and lethargic

  • 4. If you eat like everyone else, eat the common diet, you"ll be an underachiever just like them. And you"ll have problems with your sleep, your poop, your brain, your energy level. (This category includes a what to eat, and the eating style... also having the building blocks the body can use to build a healthy body, the nutrients.)
    5. If you use mood altering substances, brain stimulants, and you stop them, you"ll suddenly find yourself in withdrawal... Anything normal, anything befitting for human consumption, anything really good for you won"t do that... So avoid mood altering substances... including caffeine.

The strait and narrow method of getting well

This simplification strategy will use the strait an narrow method. With this method we eliminate what is harmful, what doesn"t produce what you want, and you"ll be, at the minimum, will be reasonably well. And mostly: really well.
Start with one thing, take it to where it needs to be, and ratchet it in.

That is a rule of life: when you achieve something, make it permanent.

Instead of what everyone else does: drop the ball and go back where you have been before you started, or maybe worse.

It will be hard, because of three reasons:

  • 1. everyone is pulling against you. The crab bucket syndrome...

misery loves company. People, your family, your friends, cannot care, cannot love, cannot let you escape.

So don"t share. Don"t talk about it. Don"t ask for support, don"t ask them to understand. Just do what you need to do. If they tell you you are weird, then either lie, or just let them say whatever they need to say.

You are responsible for your well-being: take it on. It"s your job, and nobody else"s.

  • 2. The temptation to go back to doing the wrong things is as strong as for an alcoholic. Really.

Consider yourself an addict. Consider the rules of the 12-step programs, especially the first step: declare yourself powerless in the face of "normal" but that doesn"t mean you cannot do one day at a time...

Know that by the second part of the day you have depleted your will-power, so don"t get tempted.

Find an accountability partner who is in the same boat as you: trying to become a strait and narrow path walker: become a joyous, intelligent, productive human.

I have and will write articles on every phase of the strait and narrow.
3. Make sure you don"t expect unrealistic results in an unrealistic timeframe.

You got where you are... it will take about 10% of the time, without mistakes, to get out of the ditch.

If you are like everyone else, this is probably the biggest enemy: expecting fast results... instead of committing to "whatever and however long it takes."

My most successful student has been doing the work on the strait and narrow for years. He started almost exactly five years ago.

But as long as he keeps it up, he"ll enjoy the life very few get to live: health, wealth, love and happiness, a life worth living.

It"s taken ME longer... I am older.

Neither of us is done. I still make dietary mistakes, and I still use mood altering substances. But I already feel better than I have ever felt before.

Today I felt that if this well-being continues, I"d love to live till a hundred... whereas a year ago I was praying for early death in my sleep.

What can I do for you?

I don"t specialize in illnesses. I am not a doctor. I am not a nutritionist.

I use muscle testing to get stuff known, and I use Source energies to support you on your journey for a life worth living.

I use the first step, the hydration, as the test if I should take you on as a client. If you cannot accomplish that, then you won"t accomplish any other step... you are too far gone. I cannot help you.

So your first step, the easiest, is to increase your cell hydration.

Can depression be alleviated with coaching? A coach reports...

Life wants more life... and when it can"t... when it is not forthcoming, it puts you into depression.

I had a small private workshop yesterday to test out a methodology that works for me to unstuck me every time.

Without a reliable, count-onable, potent method to unstuck yourself, you may get stuck in misery, inactivity, depression, for a long time.

What moves life, what gives a sense of living, is movement. Upward movement.

What many of us experience is deadness, or the dread of downward movement. It feels that movement, action, is futile

The depression resulting can last days, weeks, months... Depression recreates its cause... no movement.

We can call it "blah"... or The Blahs... it is all the same. Or you like to call it melancholy? Fine.

The purpose I had in mind is to get people unstuck... get to a place where they can move, or at least see that they can move.

I have been depressed about 40% of my life. I don"t know about you, but that is an awful track record. Deep hopelessness, with no end in sight.

The hallmark of depression is a sense that it"s not worth it. That no matter what I do won"t bring a better future.

Weak and short periods of trying to move... but it always ends in disappointment, failure, falling back to no movement.

I learned and mastered a methodology of getting out of depression... this deadness, and I wanted to see if it can be taught.

I am a coach first and a teacher second.

Before anything can be taught it has to work when I do it to you.

If it doesn"t dislodge you when I do it to you, then it won"t be worth teaching: the technique may work for me, but it is personal.

So I wanted to find out... I wanted to find out if it is worth teaching it, if it really works for anybody.

The three participants in this call share the tendency to not be in movement, to have an experience of low level, and sometimes high level depression.

All three were also in my free workshop on Monday, so this common experience will also help me see clues.

About the technique: The technique, as all my techniques, all my teaching, all the moves I teach, work with the invisible.

What is the invisible?

The invisible is the part of all knowledge that is invisible to you. It may be visible to me, to your mother, to your boss, but it is invisible to you.

Here is an example of mine: Back in 1987, the great stock market crash created a situation where suddenly people were let go of their jobs... I was an architect, I was let go.

I had not reserves, I needed a job urgently to eat.

I had a coach at the time, and he suggested that I reinvent myself, and then practice being that new person to be more attractive, more hire-able.

I invented myself as Brilliant and a Contribution.

I had a job interview scheduled for next morning, so I practiced all night. In front of the bathroom mirror.

The goal was to see the person in the mirror as brilliant and a contribution.

Instead what I saw is a person full of contempt, arrogant, and needy. Bad combination.

I didn"t feel contemptuous, or arrogant, I was needy. And desperate. And hopeless. I could not see why anyone would hire me.

It took me all night to see what made me look having contempt. I habitually licked my teeth (and still do) as a nervous tick.
I saw that if I can control that behavior, I actually look self confident, kind, personable, and maybe even smart?

I got the job. And I learned about the invisible.

The invisible has the roots, the causes of phenomena that without knowing it, makes no sense to you, and renders you ineffective in the world.

One of the symptoms of ineffectiveness is no movement... and thus depression.

With that said: the technique"s job is to take you to nothing... a space of no thing... a space of empty... a space of level ground, where whatever put you into no movement is not. What you have is you, and a sense that you can move... if you choose. None of what put you to the state of no movement. And then you make a small, doable promise that can put you in movement again.
In 1987, looking and talking to the person in the mirror allowed me to see what other people see... but would be invisible to me. That I was frowning.

To translate this to something more reliable, and faster, the technique involves a conversation that goes a lot deeper than a normal conversation.

We are using the distinctions from my teaching: the voices that are not you, and the Playground method...

1. The voices:

I have written tons of articles about it: it is the Amish Horse Training, where you desensitize yourself to what you hear in your head, or the emotions that come up: they are all the voices that say those horrible things about you. They are not you, and they are not your friend. They are short-sighted, opinionated, vindictive... and you need to let them do whatever they are doing, and not allow them to get to you.

My successful students can say: it is not me... therefore I can ignore it.

There are many voices, some you can hear, some you can"t. But you know they are speaking because you have fear, shame, regret, resistance, and other horrid emotions come up. All emotions are marker feelings.
A marker feeling is an automatic response to a set of words...

They are connected like the front of your hand to the back of your hand. There is nothing that you can do about it. Resistance is futile.

The only thing that is effective to protect you from the marker feelings is to declare that it"s not yours.

I know you are feeling it. But it came from a voice that is not you... so it is part of the environment, not part of you.

It takes a lot of practice to create this separation, and create autonomy from the voices. But without it you cannot even be a person... you are like a dog wagged by the tail... not pleasant.

2. The Playground method is easier to explain:

you look at what masquerades as reality, and you separate what is real from what you added: the story, the interpretation, the meaning.

If you do this well, you can get to empty and meaningless... using Landmark Education"s terminology. The space is empty of drama, "just the facts, madam" and the facts carry no meaning.
This empty space is the launching pad for movement.

I like to call it the space for starting starting.

Every movement has this stage... that everyone ignores.

And this leads us to see what meanings, what stories, what interpretations stopped these students cold on their track, and push them into depression.
1. Always/never

I will never succeed... I always do this... etc. These are the voices accepted as facts. They lack any insight, any details, any definition. They come and wound... Typical voices behavior.

2. No clarity, no process

You cannot act unless you are clear about the process. You can"t even start starting... you are paralyzed. It is so normal, you never suspect that you got tripped up by that.

In my experience, no one bothers to point you to the first step, except some exceptional teachers. So, without being pointed to the first step, you think you are supposed to have a home run... and, or course you can"t.

We are socialized through schooling where there is a curriculum. So we actually never had to learn anything on our own... and consequently hardly anyone I know knows how to start something.

Most likely one of the reason I"ve spent so much of my life in depression is this weakness in creating a process: do this first, do this second... etc.

I am still weak at that. And because doing recorded courses takes me to this place... I don"t know what to do!... I hate watching instructional videos, and waste my money on many courses that I don"t do because I don"t know how to start, and how to get into motion.

This seems to be a universal issue.

The truth is that you could start anywhere, but humans want to do the right thing... and the fear of doing the wrong thing is a paralyzer agent.

We ended the mini workshop with making small promises.

Looking back, I can see that I made a mistake there: I allowed two of the three participants to set a first action too far out, instead of finding something they could do right now.

Looking what would be the best structure inside which I can both teach and provide the assistance, I am thinking: a mastermind group with instruction...

What has made me depression-free for the past 10 years is a mastermind partner I talk to every Sunday. Almost every Sunday I manage to get to that magical empty and meaningless space... And then I can look to see what action can return me to the world of the living... into movement.

We can say that for humans movement means alive... and no movement means dead.

Return someone into movement is the biggest expression of love and caring i can imagine.
PS: Can this methodology work when you have a loss?

In 1995 my mother died. I fell into a month long depression...

In a conversation with a coach I managed to go through the steps I teach above, and could see that the depression was started and kept in place with self-blame, a sense of regret, a sense of loss of a hope. The loss of a future that probably would not have happened anyway. And yet the sense of loss was very real.

For the first time every I needed to deal with the reality that my mother wanted to do nothing with me... that we were strangers. And I was alone in the world... unless I create relationships with strangers.

In that one conversation with that coach I snapped out of it, and could resume life... Losing a month is difficult. I can see that had I had my weekly calls established then, I would not have lost so much time, so much money, so much credibility by the inactivity caused by the depression.

Now, here is the interesting bit: The coach wasn"t coaching me. My Sunday mastermind partner doesn"t EVER coach me.
Because i know what the steps are, I only need a pair of ears that doesn"t want to help, doesn"t want to console me, doesn"t want to fix anything.

Fixing comes from "there is something wrong here..." or "there is something wrong with you".

The methodology above is effective because it happens inside the space where there is nothing wrong with you, or with anyone or anything.

Wrong is an interpretation, and therefore it is relegated to the "not reality" area... it is removed from reality...

You cannot get to empty and meaningless through wrong, you cannot get to empty and meaningless through fixing.
Nothing to fix.

This is the most revolutionary concept, and the most freeing too.

In the mastermind I envision, the one person who needs to get clear... who needs to get out of no movement, already knows the steps, he/she only needs the other person to witness.

No junior coaches are allowed...

That will weed out all the people who want to coach because it makes them feel better about themselves... makes them feel ABOVE other people.

PPS: I read somewhere, maybe 30 years ago, that depression is like being in a dense fog where you can"t see where you are going... so you don"t move.

This is as good an interpretation as any. The technology is used in the coaching yesterday can be seen from that vantage point too... pulling apart the fog-curtain, so you can see far enough to start starting... and get into movement. Movement is life.

PPPS: This methodology, creating a clearing (as in a clearing in a forest) works even if you are not depressed.

When you remove the cobweb (aka fog) from your view, you make better decisions... which is always a good thing

PPPS: People who have a very high desire measure, get mostly trapped by the unclarity, by wanting to go for a home run, but not having a path.

Occasionally their desire is unreasonable... but even if it isn"t, they cannot see, by virtue of the desire trap, the small steps that make it possible for them to start starting. The methodology is a perfect tool for these people as well.

Are you healthy enough to have meaning to your life? Purpose?

Meaning: Following THAT Star. The alternative is Meaningless
This is my quest: to follow that star, no matter how hopeless, no matter how far.

Humans are strange animals: they need meaning to make their lives to feel more than just existing. They need purpose to give a backbone, to give direction, to transform a life of prose to poetry.

But life is, in itself, empty and meaningless... so how do you find the meaning, how do you find the purpose?

I was 38 years old when meaning first entered my life. It was dramatic, and it was life altering.

Why you have been unable to change: The Savanna Principle

I am reading a book... 18% truth value, on evolutionary psychology.

What bothers me most is the air of authority these people that write books project... But, of course, real science doesn"t sell books...

Anyway, one of the things this book says that in the past 10,000 years we didn"t learn anything, because our brain was unable to...

And we haven"t been able to change our basic behavior... or our minds.

But recently I saw something that contradicts what the book says.

Often things you want look and feel impossible

I wrote this article two years ago about impossible and impossible dreams. I am republishing it because it is a topic I"d like you to see as a series.

Often things you want look impossible.

How do I know it? Because, for me, it is an hourly experience. Why? Because I start so many projects, use so many different methods, software, etc. that require all different skill-sets, most of it is impossible... or so it looks.

I believe that if I can imagine doing it, I can learn how to do it. But learning is hard, and some types of learning are not linear: you beat your head against the wall for a long time, before you see the light.

Most of the things I need to learn are like that.

In addition to things being hard, I also like to go for impossible projects, like transforming humanity, and such.

I know it"s impossible. I know it"s not up to me. I know and yet... I want to give my life to something that is bigger than my life. After all your life is only as big as your projects are.

Let me repeat that:

Your life is only as big as your projects are.

Why do I feel lethargic?

Lethargic is a way of being where there is no energy to live, to move forward, and there is not even hope.

It feels like deflated, the life force that was there before disappeared.

Tiredness that doesn"t ease up with rest, a good night"s sleep, isn"t tiredness. It is probably lethargy, depression, or purposelessness.

Why meaning disappears... when the future to live for disappears.
